I picked up a 1.02ct Natural Green Diamond today. Was a lil more then my typical budget for stones at 1k, but I thought it was a good deal for a natural green stone.

The seller said there are a couple blemishes on the pavallion, but its not distracting. I will of course decide that when I get it. I can see the blemishes in the photo, and as long as its a good color, I dont think it will bother me. He said it was cut to maintain weight. I asked about the tone and if it blacks out, and he said it is a deep green, and does not at all. He also said If I didnt like it for whatever reason, I can send it back (USA) for a full refund.

It also comes with a GIA Cert stating it is natural color.

I will of course take my own pics this weekend after I verify the report and check it over!

Very pretty photo RH. Unlike green diamonds that are colored by natural radiation (like Kenny's avatar diamond), this one is colored grey and yellow and some other modifiers/hues to make a green color. I suspect it might not be as green as the photo because of that, but please do keep us posted. These kinds of diamonds also go more green in some light sources vs others from what I have seen. I would love to hear your opinion on it, and I hope you paid a fair price. Also check out the fluor if there is any.

Gia graded it grey yellowish green. So it must have a significant amount of green in it to have the base color be green with the Gia.

I paid 1k for it. You think thats an ok price?

Kennys diamond is a vivid green with no Mods. Most green diamonds have a color mod or 2, and are still naturally irradiated.

Nice green diamond. I'll be interested in how it behaves in different lighting, and if it has fluor. I own a natural fancy intense greenish yellow diamond, and in some lights it looks a lot like yours. But the color changes dramatically with the light source.

Someone who is a FCD specialist can correct me, but if greyish or yellowish or any modifier is used in the GIA color grading of the diamond, and it isn't a straight Fancy green, or even a Fancy bluish green (another valuable color), the price is drastically different. I've seen greyish yellowish greens go for far far far less money than a natural fancy green (and it doesn't have to be vivid or intense). Chameleons are often graded as fancy yellowish greyish green, and they are not the prices of fancy greens. Regardless, if it is what it is, I think $1K is a very good price.

I can find out more about this, as I could be wrong.
 
It comes with a cert, so at least you are assure that it is real and natural. As I am new to FCDs, I hope to continue to learn more about the pricing structure and colour categories.
 
Here's a fancy greyish yellowish green, and it's $22K, but if this were a fancy green, there would be at least another zero on the price, also considering it's two carats. Even so, your gem is only $1K for a one carat stone, so you did indeed get a very good deal if it is what it is. :))

I actually find that fancy greyish yellowish greens are a good deal for people that want a green diamond but can't afford those pure fancy greens. They are very pretty, and when surrounded by pink diamonds or other pink stones, I think it makes the green color pop even more.

Here's an interesting thread on green diamonds that was posted a while ago. I do agree with David of DBL that the yellowish green posted in the one comparison pic is overpriced. I've seen them go for far less than that, but as you can see, there is a greyish yellowish green, fancy green, yellowish green and another green all in the comparison shot.

Oh wow! 22k? My diamond is waaaaaay greener then that one.
 
Well I can't wait to see mine now. I figured you can't go wrong with the Gia report saying it's natural. It also comes with a burpha report, but I have no idea who that it.

You are correct, a yellow, brown, or gray overtone can drastically change the price of a diamond. Additionally, Fancy Dark instead of Fancy Vivid will also dramatically affect price. I've very curious to see what it looks like in person.

RH, what a stunning colored diamond!! This stone has good saturation, and I can definitely see the green.

For 1k and a GIA lab report stating it's "natural", you snagged a great deal. Also, the fact that it's in the 1 ct. mark makes it even more valuable.

Had to take an emergency trip to ky, and hubby messed up the payment and sent it via echeck, so I won't get it till Thursday :(. But I will post a ton of pics when i get it!

I see you are at it again, finding jewels all over the place. Give us a tutorial on how you do it. Do you spend a lot of time at it? I know, I don't. Usually, somethings kinda of fall in my lap without my anticipating it. Does that happen to you are do you search out particular items?

I think its quite exciting to find a green diamond.

They usually just fall in my lap lol. I just decided to look at diamonds the other day and this one popped up. I swear I'm not glued to eBay 24/7!

This one will be fun to see pics of when you receive it! I have owned several stones close to the GIA's given color and each have varied greatly with the color IRL. This stone will be much darker IRL than the photo for the most part(as you can see the tweezers are really light in the pic), but there may be moments that you will see the color in the photo pop out. Can't wait to see it!
