My boyfriend (fiancee) and I have recently bought an e-ring from James Allen. Our budget was limited and we found 0.9 carat stone with very good specifications and gemologist review for a very good price as it has strong blue fluorescence. We have been doing a lot of research on the effect of strong blue fluorescence on diamonds and understand that it can sometime make a diamond hazy/milky. Nevertheless, this is very rare so we decided to take the risk.

We've received our e-ring recently and generally happy with the choice. The stone is generally a gorgeous icy white color. I actually like the light icy blue hue when exposed to direct sunlight. Nevertheless, I'm not too sure how to tell whether it's "overblue" or "hazy/milky". It seems relatively clear to me but would appreciate everybody's opinions.

Specifications (GIA Certified)
Carat 0.9
Color - F
Cut - Excellent
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Excellent
Clarity - VS2
Dimensions - 6.15*6.19*3.82

It doesn't look bad whatsoever, I think it looks beautiful. It may be from the camera angle that it has a slight haze to it but that could be due to the camera angle or the way the light was being caught off of it during the picture.

Just to show you that it's on par with beautiful strong blue's compare it to this:

Looks like a beautiful diamond.

The market has gotten very hard on fluorescent diamonds, so many of them offer tremendous opportunities to get a great looking diamond for less, often far less, than you would pay for a non fluorescent diamond.

If it were an "overblue" it would look like oil on water out of doors, all roiled up and nasty looking.

As a lover of the fluorescent diamonds, I think yours looks great. Enjoy it and have those prongs checked regularly.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. We've not actually come across this youtube VDO before and agree our diamond is very similar to the diamond in the VDO :D It's actually very reassuring, thanks. We did wonder whether there was a very slight haze but my boyfriend seems to think it's due to the blue color (i.e. white glass will always appear clearer than blue glass, etc). The gemologist also commented that it faces up closer to an E color.

it shows the fluor which comes out a bit blue, but it doesnt look hazy at all. It is beautiful! I bet you got an excellent deal on it as well. Some people shy away from fluor, but it is great value and I personally love it. You should get a black light and take some photos of it!

Thanks for your reply. We totally agree, an alternative non-fluorescent diamond with similar specifications would have cost us 1000 dollars more! We're really happy we got our stone for such a reasonable price :) :)

Is is beautiful!

Looks lovely to me!

I love the blue and violet colors that show in that 3rd picture! Very pretty. Is that the common prong setting? Looks good.

It's not hazy or milky. In fact, your outdoor pics may appear blue in part bc it's reflecting the sky colour, not showing UV.
