I'm currently looking at 2 diamonds and would like some opinion and advise on each.

Stone 1: Asscher cut, 1.51 Carat, D, SI1, Excellent cut, no fluorescence. Asking $11,900.
Stone 2: Asscher cut, 1.68 Carat, F, VS2, Excellent cut, no fluorescence. Asking $13,600.

The obvious first questions are - Which stone and is it a good deal?

One other item that I'm looking for some insight into is the fact that I've found it very difficult to find stones with a clarity grade better than a VS2 in the carat size I'm looking for, 1.5 - 1.75. Is this common? Are stones in the upper grades of color and clarity difficult to find in this carat size? Should SI1 stones be avoided?

I appreciate everyone's help.

do you have images? also who is calling them 'excellent' cut? are these GIA graded?

You can't judge fancy's by their numbers we need pics and an ASET would be nice if you can get one.

Most step cut SI stones will not be eyeclean, but that doesn't mean ALL of them aren't. It's worth a shot, but just be aware that it's not likely!
