I am newbe- what do you all think, is it a good un?
I ve wanted a smallish light pink spinel for a while, and this one really spoke to me. Also its a pressie to myself for getting a job- but then again, I sent an aqua and a Tahitian pearl to Daniel M to set into a pendant as my 'getting a job present'.... Must remember- do not have salary yet, should not spend money I do not yet have! But still, yay!

Thanks Jewel Freak. I ve seen so many pics of Barry stones on PS, and heard so much about his cutting- I knew I had to have one! I am guessing this won t have the glow that many people talk about w ref to Mahenge spinels? I am guessing that only happens with the darker pinks/reds?

I don't know about the glow, but if Barry says it's brilliant, it will be!

The glow of the Mahenge spinel comes from its vivid eye popping saturation. This pink looks more muted so I don’t think it will glow but should be sparkly due to the precision cutting.

I'd still like to know who got orange/pink tourmaline, the pink supernova tourmaline, and the Wollo opal. The color-shift tourmaline was really pretty too.

i got the wollo opal. Barry sent some additional pics and one of them looked like an outerspace view of planet earth... i was sold!

It looked really pretty in the picture on his website, the other pictures sound really neat. I was thinking about it but somehow managed to resist. I'm glad you got it! I hope you'll post lots of pictures. Do you have any plans for it yet?

Still no news on the whereabouts of a certain orangepink tourmaline

It's my birthstone but i've never been drawn to them until now. This one kept calling out to me! Barry said these are supposedly tougher in one of his newsletters, right? (or am i mistaken?) no setting plans yet, but i'm thinking a simple gold bezel ring or something.
