African grey?
Sun conure!
This species is currently threatened by loss of habitat and trapping for plumage or the pet trade. Sun parakeets are now listed as endangered by the IUCN [
Aww I just read they are endangered.
Thanks for taking care of these sweet babies and hopefully they will thrive.
I am getting the little one. Someone took in two that were rescues and were supposed to be male, but one keeps laying eggs. She raises them and finds good homes for themAnd she keeps the cost low so people don't have to buy at pet stores.
People get them and don't understand just how needy and loud they are- then they want to get rid of themNot me. I freaking LOVE birds- having a bird in my house is a dream come true for me. It can sit on my shoulder all damn day. LOL!
I am not a bird person (I prefer my pets to have fur), but they are adorable!!!!!And so pretty as adults
Will it talk? How big can their vocabulary get?
Soxfan, I'm afraid to listen to your video of screaming Suns.
Bibi might pick up that sound.LOL
OMG you are a conure lover too!!!?
They don't really "talk," they scream. LOL! Here's some videos of them. One flew in our yard last year and I was able to reunite it with it's owner. It flew up on our shoulders, had a grand time in our fish pond, and the kids were SOOOO bummed that we couldn't keep it.
Bibi is my 5 yr old companion parrot.
He goes everywhere with me, except work.
When I go into a store or restaurant, where you probably shouldn't bring a pet, I put him in my shirt.
He'll climb up and perch on my collar with his head and breasts sticking out.
When people see him they are usually charmed and enthralled - especially kids.
Bibi is SUPER-socialized.
He loves to sit on the shoulder of any new person to munch on their hair, cuddle and give kisses.
5 years old, hand raised, I started taking him around the day I got him, about a week after being weaned.
He spent zero time sitting in a cage at a pet shop.
I showed up the moment he, and his two siblings were ready to come home, spent a few hours with each and Bibi pushed his siblings out of the way to steal my heart.
I'm so in love with this little green friend.
He talks.
He says his name Bibi, Come here, Stop it, Gimme a Kiss, Birdie Birdie, etc.
Conures don't have clear voices like some larger parrots.
His "accent" sounds like an old man who smoked all his life.
I could talk about him for days, but this is your thread.

Kenny, I may add another conure after I get him/her so they can have a play mate! I want to socialize the bird for at least a year though so it can bond with me.
