Hi everyone! I love PS and am so happy to finally post. Here’s a photo of my new asscher (I suppose it’s technically a square emerald). Eventually this’ll be set in a simple platinum band.
In the search for the perfect engagement ring stone, our jeweler showed us many beautiful asschers and ultimately I went with an unconventional choice - a relatively shallow and big-tabled stone. I just loved the glassy look and no matter what other stones I saw, I kept coming back to this particular one. I think the 4 pavilion facets give it just enough sparkle for me.
My question is this: I’ve never seen a diamond photograph with such a colorful, almost iridescent, translucent surface. This is in basic, northern-exposure sunlight. Every photo I took (in this position) came out like this, but in person the diamond is as clear as you would expect. What info can I derive from this photo?

Someone smarter than me has to explain the appearance of this diamond in photos. But I LOVE that you went with your heart.

Does it have fluorescence?

I think it’s gorgeous. Also, shows that above and beyond all the charts, etc., ultimately the one that speaks to you is the one. That’s what happened with me.

Thank you! Totally.
I love reading through PS forums and learning about “ideal” asscher cuts, but when it came down to my choice, I found my diamond - which looks kind of like a drop of water - to be more appealing than diamonds with many high-contrast and flashy concentric squares (even though those are obviously beautiful too). If it’s going to be glued to your hand forever..... might as well go with your gut, I guess :)
