I just picked up a .51 carat diamond. It's on the large side of what my gal was looking for, but I've had a hard time finding a nice rock around .4 carat which was her original weight request. Obviously, it scores high in the 4 c's; but, my eyes start to glaze over on the proportion side of things.

Of course, all that matters is that I like it, and ultimately that my girlfriend does, but I'm still curious how the rock scores.

Here are the GIA report specs:

Hmm. . .3.2 on my check (from the pricescope calculator.) Am I missing something?

In either case, I was hoping for a better cut; but, I am under a time crunch. Also, I am new to diamonds, and wasn''t sure if I was being naive thinking that I could easily find a better cut while staying with a D, IF.

Shay, sorry, no pics yet. . .I left my camera Michigan this past weekend in preparation for the engagement trip back there next week. I''ll try to remember to update this thread with a pic or two, especially after my girlfriend designs the ring as the diamond is in a ''temporary'' setting right now.

Sorry, you''re right.

HCA can penalize a diamond with a steeper pavilion angle as this one has, but it you have seen it and love it, then that is the main thing!
