That being said, I never actually thought about the fact that male prostitution wasn't legal in Nevada. Hiring a professional prostitute (meaning licensed, regulated, and regularly checked for STDs, etc.) in a state in which prostitution is legal comes with some inherent risk reduction, but with anything, you assume the risk of worst case scenario when you engage in such activities. Perhaps one will have to sign some sort of legal agreement (to not pursue child support, or to terminate, etc.) should the contact yield a pregnancy?
Wasn't there a movie about this? They proved that since the guy had never tried to track down his sperm of any other encounter, that he had no legal right to just one.

It was an anonymous sperm donor case... I think.

I can't remember and it is driving me CRAZY?!?!?!

This was Elle Woods argument in 'Legally Blond'
LOL! That is what I thought... but then I couldn't figure out how PERMS and the workout guru played into the story!!! HAHAHA. Stupid sequels!

Monnie~ He may LOOK like Richard Gere, but I''m assuming he''ll be ill-equipped.

Hahahaha! I was thinking maybe he just wouldn''t have any hair...or teeth.

No teeth?? Wouldn''t that be better for a female hooker??

gigolos have existed as long as has prostitution.
rich women have had paid lovers and at least one movie has been made about it: American Gigolo.
an increased demand? i don't think so. just the law catching up with the reality.

MZ, does this mean that the $20 hooker I can afford won't look like Richard Gere?
think of it like diamonds and color stones: you get what you pay for and there is always something for every budget. its up to you to make the trade offs........sorry but a $20 hook isn't going to be richard gere. my advise is to save your $ so you can upgrade that "stud"!

Here you go gals...and guys...you can look at your first, legal male prostidude.

ETA - my fav quote from the article...

"He has been criticized by female counterparts for not being willing to have sex with men. And he created a dustup after telling Details Magazine that his pioneering role in the sex business was "just the same" as civil rights icon Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat and move to the back of the bus. Not surprisingly, he has been forbidden from doing interviews after the remarks."

Wait a minute...Markus the mooker (male hooker) has the nerve to compare the schwinging of his schlong, to Mrs. Parks quiet strength & courage? (Never thought I''d ever write that in a sentence.)

*shakes head*

Wow...he''s definitely got some nads on him...guess he''s made the right career choice.

All prostitution is legal in New Zealand.

If people want to pay for sex, fine, if they want to sell it fine, I think people make their own choices and it''s not my place to judge them for it. If it''s legal the govt. can tax that income and the sex workers are encoraged to have regular check-ups at free clinics without fear of getting arrested.

This discussion reminds me of a documentary I saw a while ago.

Not male prostitution exactly, but this documentary covers Host clubs in Japan where women pay attractive men to come and drink with them and chat them up. link: The Great Happieness Space

It was interesting and a little sad.

Regarding who would hire these "men of the night":
I imagine that male prostitutes will be hired by women who want the power of calling all the shots - some sort of bizzare girl power gone wrong scenario.
I can also imagine lots of hires for just cuddling, and foot massages (like a butler with benefits), and by women who think they can "make" someone fall in love with them - another bizzarre and potentialy expensive power dynamic.
