And frankly, even holding side by side, you cannot differentiate a 0.85ct from a 1ct, so size is not the issue. I think she and you will be very happy. Am I correct in thinking that you and she likely have not seen many ideally proportioned diamonds in person? If that is the case the sparkle factor will blow any other considerations out of the water.
We've only looked at diamonds once together, so I guess she doesn't have too much experience looking at diamond sizes. Thanks guys, I really hope she likes it! Can't wait to pick it up! I'll post a more in-depth review about my WF experience in a day or two, they were really great.
I picked up the ring today and it is absolutely stunning, I am so amazed. The light return in sunlight is so high it almost hurts to look at it directly. Indoors it has a very nice sparkle to it too, which is great. Because of this I don't think she will be able to notice the color difference between the side stones and the center. In lower lighting conditions its still somewhat hard to tell, so its fine. Same goes with the size, when its sparkling its really hard to tell that its smaller than 1 ct. just by itself.
Sheerah with WF has been really great working with me on this, helping me find the original stone and suggesting me to go lower in terms of size in the first place. She also told me to go with me current one after looking at the ASET and idealscope images and worked with me on the price. In all I got a really great diamond which was almost exactly what my gf had wanted for a fantastic price. I'm currently planning the engagement itself and I have a lot of room to move around in since I saved a good amount on the ring!
I submitted my payment exactly 7 days ago and it arrived today, so it took 5 business days which is a great turnaround time. Once I get some hand pics in a few weeks I'll post them on here! Thanks everyone for your help!
