I was looking to get a Brian Gavin Hearts & Arrows diamond but was wondering has anyone ever had experience negotiating with them or an online store? I know the prices are typically quite lower than retail stores so does that mean the listed prices are pretty much final?
You can ask for the pricescope discount. many of the online dealers mentioned here have it. IIRC, BGD's discount is 3%, and you can get an additional 2% if you pay by wire.
Beyond the discounts mentioned by warheadwl, BGD does have a repeat customer discount ($100) on each purchase. In my experience you won't get any more than that. Also, if you are not in a big hurry they may have another "black Friday" sale on the Friday after thanksgiving. Last year they had stones at 10% off for 24 hrs, I think.
i highly doubt they would give a significant of discount, 2-3% is something possibly **cross fingers** but you have to remember when you email the company it goes through a customer service desk and then they would pass that question on to a supervisor then to a person who has power to give a discount. so your banking on alot to work. BUT if the company is in need of sales and the month is down or maybe there could be your lucky day........who knows but dont count on it!
Most of the online jewelers operate on much, much smaller margins than retail stores. Profits of two to five percent on diamonds, for instance. There's not much room for negotiation there. Several places have pricescope discounts and many have discounts if you pay by bank wire, since they are saved the credit card fees they then pass those savings back on to you. Occasionally I have seen people buying multiple items get another small discount, but on a single ring? Not likely.
