Hello ladies,

I finally got a quote from for my invitations, (see this thread) and it's considerably over budget (we wanted $300 at most, she quoted $400/100 invitations). So, FI and I decided to go the DIY route. We essentially have three options:

1. DIY #1 - Pretty easy to assemble, traditional invitations. No pockets or anything for RSVP cards.
2. DIY #2 - More difficult to assemble, but have a place for RSVP card and envelope
3. Order the invitations we originally wanted, but decided not to go for because the paper was plain card stock. The big plus in this, is that we wouldn't have to deal with printing, and assembling the invites.

I appreciate any, and every opinion, so please be honest.

Starting with DIY#1

Honestly, I like both DIYs way more than the professionally done invites. The 2nd one is my fav if it doesn''t cost too much more to make, otherwise the 1st ones are very nice as well!

my future sister in-law actually used #2 for her engagement party and they were SUPER easy to assemble...and they turned out really cute!!

Thank you ladies, I appreciate the input

.

Both DIY actually come out really inexpensive. We got these at Michael''s and FI has a coupon, lol. I think they''ll end up being about $1 per invite.

#2 is my favorite! I think the only thing I don''t like about #1 is that you can see some of the text peeking out from the flaps.

I know where you got those! I went with an invitation from the same line but in green. I looooved the brown, but all of the stores in my area were sold out. I vote for the brown!

I''d go with DIY#2. #1 is kind of... zzzzzzz

Sorry, dozed off there. What was I saying? Oh, yes. #2 for sure.

I love DIY invitation #2!

Wow, a unanimous vote for #2! This makes my decision easy :-D. FI prefers #2 as well.

Sabine - I''m glad you mentioned that. It appears the enclosure for #2 is intended to be an inner envelope. The kit includes labels which are to be posted on the back of the enclosure, and apparently they''re supposed to list the names of the guests.

Hudson_Hawk - Haha -- I saw your green invitations too, they''re very pretty, and I actually considered getting those, but decided that green wouldn''t exactly evoke "Winter". This is one of the perks of living in suburbia, there are lots, and lots of crafts stores. I think I have at least 3 Michael''s within a half hour from me.

pjean - LOL! Wake up!! We''re going with #2

Thank you all very much.

Definitely #2. I think the professional ones looked the most plain out of all of them.

**Threadjack** Where do you find DIY invitation kits? I saw some at target but they were not what I had in mind...

Izzy, I found them at Michael''s. They''re actually manufactured by BRIDES magazine, and Michael''s has an isle that''s full of invitations, thank you cards, and a bunch of other stuff from them.

Thanks for the reply Amandine!

I''d go with the brown invitations also. I almost bought those but every Michael''s in my area were completely sold out of them. I was so mad! Still can''t find them in the area....

taovandel - I wonder if there is any place online which has them. I am sure they''re not made exclusively for Michael''s.

2. I like them better than the professional ones too. They look great.

Thank you Gypsy! I really appreciate that. They are quite nice, arent they

Hey, I saw those in Michael''s and was wondering what they looked like when they were all put together. They''re beautiful! I love the brown. Just curious, for my wedding colors....what shade of green are the green ones?

I say go with the brown. Those are gorgeous and elegant. I like them better than the white.

miraclesrule - Thank you

It seems those invitations are made exclusively for Michaels

You can always try calling or going to your local store, and see if they can be shipped from store to store.

Not to threadjack, but these are our save the dates. Also from Michaels, same line as the brown invites you''re considering. We added the ribbon to the top to make them match the green invitations.

Hudson_Hawk - Your STDs are beautiful! May I ask, how did you print them? Did you do it at home, or did you have them printed somewhere? TIA.

The cards come with the filigree printed on them already. They also have a brown cardstock band that you add with the "Save the Date" line. We cut the band to just get the little STD box. You basically go online to gartner studio and there''s a template there for word. There are instructions that tell you how to print them on your home printer which is what we did. The text that''s on the image there is the sample text that came with the set, I added the ribbon as a test so I didn''t waste any of the paper.
