Need your help with these CADs please!

Hi everyone,

I need help with these CADs please. They are based on Whiteflash's Harmony setting. They look nice in my opinion except for one thing that is bothering me; there appears to be a little nub that the prongs are mounted to in my images that the Harmony does NOT have. Do you see it too? I have tried explaining this to the CAD designer (who has been incredibly helpful and patient by the way!) but the designer says it's the exact same as the Harmony. So my question is, do your eyes see it too? The little base or nub that the head is mounted on? And do you also see a slight gap where the pave ends and the head? Thanks!

Also, does it seem like due to the nub, the pave stops a bit short of the head and there is a slight gap where the pave ends and the prongs are? In the Harmony, the pave goes right up to the head.

I don''t see a nub... do you mean the area under the head without diamonds? It appears to be a little wider in your CAD than in the original.

Here is butterfly 17''s Harmony, look at where the head is mounted to the shank. Notice how there is no little platform there like in my CAD? Also, the pave goes right up to the prongs. Is it just me? Thanks for your eagle eyes!

I do see some differences in your CAD and in the Harmony.... yours has melee in the basket and double prongs, and the bar in the basket is straight instead of dipped. So it's not infringement.

I think the reason you aren't getting more responses is because you it SOUNDS like you are asking us to help you commit copyright infringement. That design is WF's design. If you want it exactly as is... you should just get it from them. Your jeweler shouldn't be going for 'exact' and neither should you. PS doesn't condone copyright infringement and people's pictures, like Lynn's below, are not put up to help someone rip off designs. They are put up here to share her joy and happiness over her purchase.

If you want a design that has the shank from the WF setting but some notable differences-- maybe you should state that and see if the response is warmer.

Excuse me? That was very rude. My CADs ARE from Whiteflash. None of these are anyone named "Lynn"'s pictures.

In that case... if the guy at WF is telling you that the shank is exactly like the one in the Harmony... just get it in writing that the shank needs to be exactly like the Harmony and trust them (it is their design)... if you aren't happy with it, contact them and work it out. I'm sure Allison D. will be happy to help you.

Again, sorry for the above post. My bad. And the picture above looks like Lynn's pic of her set (the original Harmony)... I see that it says that it is buterfly's set instead because it doesn't have the same head as Lynns .

As for the integrated head, I don't want that as I don't like how it bisects the shank. I want it just like the current Harmony (butterfly17's), not the original Harmony...just like the first picture I posted, which does not have a nub but appears to be slightly recessed like sparklyforever mentioned. I think that is absolutely the problem, it is recessed and mine is raised.

That disparity could be a function of the cad adding a little bulk. I''d just bring it up to them, and then follow up with them in writing confirming that yours will be recessed in execution, if it is just a function of the cad adding bulk.

Ack - I''m going back and forth, back and forth - I can''t see what it is you are talking about - sorry!

Am guessing if it is just a matter of a bulk question - if a part of the shank were just thinner you would be OK - then yes, keep in mind the CADS are bulky.

I made a thread CADS vs. the Real Thing while I was waiting for my ring to be finished, might be helpful to see the differences.

Also - when you are at this stage in the design process, it is VERY easy to get obsessed with little details that will end up not even being an issue. So, if it''s something minor that takes a REAL close look to notice - try not to get too worried about it!

It looks the same to me. To me it''s a matter of lighting, I see the same "platform" on the real ring photo at the top. The difference being that one is a photo of a real ring, from a different angle, made of a reflective material versus a CAD drawing with diffuse lighting of a dull material that accentuates the exact lines of the piece.

Think of how different a white & a black car look, even though they''re of identical designs.

This is the solution. I would just ask them to confirm that the diamond will go right up to the head of the ring without a gap, get it is writing, and go from there. CADs never look like the real thing.
