Here is another confused guy

trying to find the "perfect" diamond for his future wife. Over the last month or so I''ve tried to do as much research as possible and this web-site has been excellent. I went from not knowing anything at all to knowing enough to be dangerous. Before I''m taking the next step I would like your opinion on some of the following stones (princess) to make sure I''m on the right track:

Stone A - $7,300 (I''ve attached the Ideal Scope image)
Carat: 1.10
Color: D
Clarity: VVS1
Depth: 71.9
Table: 64
Crown Angle: 27.1
Crown %: 7.8
Girdle: Medium to Very thick
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Good
Culet: None
Fluorescence: No
Measurements: 5.92-5.77X4.15

Stone B - $7,454
Laboratory: GIA
Carat Weight: 1.28
Color: E
Clarity: VS2
Measurements: 6.11x6.11x4.30
Depth: 70.4%
Table: 70%
Crown Height: 8.2%
Polish: VG
Symmetry: GD
Culet: None
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick
Fluorescence: None
Culet: None

Stone C - $7,422
Carat 1.28
Color F
Clarity VS1
Measurements 6.14 x 6 x 4.37 mm
Depth Percentage 72.8 %
Table Percentage 69 %
Girdle M -STK
Culet N
Polish VERY GOOD
Symmetry VERY GOOD
Fluorescence NONE

I have one more question: I currently live in the US, but I''ll be moving to Belgium (Antwerp) soon. Given the fact that Antwerp is the city of diamonds, should I wait with my purchase till I''m there?

Thanks for your help

What are the proportions on stone #3? Specifically crown height/angles, pavilion depth/angles?

Why is the crown on #1 so low? With that depth and table, I thought it'd be high?

I think that ideal scope image looks really nice!

Unfortunately I don't have these measurements for stone #3.....or at least I couldn't find them on the web-site

For all the experts out there, I do have some additional stats for Stone A:

Pavilion Angle: 41.6
Pavilion %: 63

Am I getting value for my money or are there better stones out there in the same price range ($7,000 - $7,500)?

D-VVS would be the cleanest, whitest and smallest stone for any given price range. What 'value' is is up to you, of course.

The Iscope looks very nice too.

Antwerp... you might want to look over the posts of "stephan" and drop him a line to see what diamond shopping looks like there. It might well be the city of diamonds, but the fame is not made at the retail level, for better or for worse.

Thanks for the advice.

Point taken on value. It would certainly help if I tell you what I'm looking for

:

Stone: Princess
Cut Class: Ideal - Premium (as per the AGA cut chart)
Carat: 1.1 - 1.3
Color: D - F
Clarity: F - VS2
Price Range: $6,500 - $7,500

When I do a search based on these criteria I get a couple of pages with search results. Based on my very limited knowledge of princess diamonds I selected these 3. Do you think I'm on the right track or are there better stones out there that meet these criteria.
