Hi guys,

I want to begin by saying that this website is the best tool out there for newbies like me and I couldn't ahve asked for more. I have been a lurker for quite sometime now and the things I have learnt here are priceless. While the knowledge has humbled me as a person, I am confident that I am at the right place with great people like you who will help me out finding the right diamond for my girl.

My budget is about 6K for the ring including everything ranging from the setting, diamond, shipping, etc. I know she like a halo setting, but I am flexible on that if the right diamond came through( I need everything done so I can propose this Thanksgiving and am flexible here). My goal is to be realistic and give my girl something that she will admire and cherish for a long time. I know I want either a round or a princess cut diamond for her ( I know she does too), but am looking at my options right now. The overall idea is to have something classy that looks great, shines like no other and makes a statement(I know I cant get a 5 carat ring!) in the budget I am working with. I know rounds look bigger than princess, so I would like atleast a carat round or a 1.20 or higher princess. No compromises on the cut(has to be excellent!) because I know that is what makes the diamond, all thanks to the education I received on this site. I have been looking on this site with those specs in mind and have a variety of options listed below. If you all could review them and give me your top 3 choices with reasons, it will help me make a sound decison. While I have learnt a lot at this website, I think it is no match to the expert guidance available here and I am really hoping you all will come through for me. So please review the options listed with my budget in mind and provide me with you expert guidence to help make a decision.

I will look forward to your thoughts and feedback.

For your budget I would work with a vendor that provides ASETs of their princess stones and though an AGS0 would be easier, I think a GIA stone would be less expensive. Having a vendor chose diamonds for you -- emphasis on great cut-- would be the best route for your budget.

Eternity Diamonds, if they have ASETs would be a great place for you to CALL and ask to find you the right diamond.

Here's what you are looking for in an ASET: http://www.ideal-scope.com/using_reference_chart_ASET.asp

They have these two halo settings that are affordable and lovely and sturdy (they have others but they are either too expensive or not sturdy or as nice) :

Thank you Gypsy! I have reached out to all the merchants listed for ASET images and am hoping to get those soon. As soon as I have them, I will post and let you/other members know.

In the meantime, I am looking at expert opinions on the quality of diamonds that I posted earlier. I know there is a lot of options, so I was hoping some/all of you would provide you opinions on the ones I selected. Your top three choices and reasons...why I should or shouldn't go with them?

Any help/feedback provided is very much appreciated!
