I have really been searching a lot and then I was going to choose a diamond from MDX in melbourne and the ring too, however I read an article and became really confused.

I mean some of the diamonds at MDX are not available to view and it is really hard to make a judgment that way i guess especially an educated decision even when no one has really seen the diamond being advertised. However, I was interested in a diamond about a month ago but it had a IGI trade report but in the article above they say those reports are not really to be trusted, it really made me read more about the whole thing. However I am stuck now and don't know where to turn, should I visit the australian diamond company? Who can really be trusted in getting an ideal cut diamond? I need to get a diamond as soon as possible and the ring too, hope you can help. Thanks.

Hi Ironguy,
I am an Australian too - I will recommend Whiteflash.com and Good Old Gold.com - you can do a search on here about these vendors, both are highly trustworthy and come recommended by tons of people. I have personally purchased from both and couldn''t be happier.
There are other PS recommended vendors, but that will give you somewhere to start.

If you are happy to post your specs (ct weight, shape, colour, clarity and budget), there are many here that will happily help you find a top notch stone.
I would also advise to do a search on MDX - to date, I have yet to hear a success story from them, but thats just my experience.

hth, pls let us know if you have more questions, and welcome !

I am not Australian (I am Canadian) but we have similar reports here and I think they are useless. I ended up getting my diamond from Whiteflash because I could see all the measurements and I knew my AGS report was way better info than I would get in Canada. Its not like you can''t buy a nice diamond here but there are so many shady dealers and even big companies who market size and colour only. I love my diamond and Whiteflash was great to work with.

Yes I am looking for a IF natural diamond of about one carat or so, from d to F in color and of ideal cut. I have seen some online for around the 17 to 18 thousand dollar mark. I would like to view the diamond if possible, I can not believe how long I have been looking now, has anyone been to any of the local melbourne ones and can they share their experience please, anyone bought from australian diamond company? I checked out their site but they don''t have an online selection, I guess I may have to go in which I don''t mind if they are an excellent place to shop. Who is the best in melbourne? Does anyone have a clue as to what makes them so good too.....I am all ears to all of you who have spent months looking and looking and know what the are getting from different vendors. Thanks guys for your input. MUch appreciated.

Seriously, if you're in Melbourne, go to Holloway Diamonds. They understand "ideal cut."

Yes, if you are in Melbourne just go to Holloway''s.

Try www.hollowaydiamonds.com.au they are in Melbourne, Garry posts here also.
Maybe you missed this post earlier, here is the address for Holloway Diamonds in Melbourne.

Ditto! Go to Gary Holloway, or purchase from WF. I also live in Melbourne and tried to purchase from MDX and had nothing but hassles getting info and certs on stones, and then when I did, the damn things were gone. Other members have had problems with their upgrades not being honoured. Do a quick search and you will find threads on this.

I bought my ering from WF in America and I would do it again in a heartbeat (just a shame that our dollar has tanked again)
