Hello,

I am not sure this is the right subforum to post this topic, so if there is a better place for it please let me know and I will move it.

I have recently inherited a diamond solitaire ring. The setting is damaged and worn, but the diamond itself is lovely. I have had it appraised and it is 1.04cts, SI-1, J (estimated due to setting), and a good cut. I already have my own engagement ring, so I am not sure what to do with this one. I guess I could either sell it or make something out of it. If I decide to sell it, how can I know what is the market value of a pre-owned diamond with these characteristics? If I decide not to sell it, I am not sure what to make out of it, perhaps a diamond solitaire pendant? What else could I do? I am looking for ideas in order to decide.

Many thanks.

You should make a pendant of it and wear it if you do not need money.

I'd send it into one of our vendors here for a little rehab/recut and then make a pendant out of it. A recut costs about $350 a carat.

Thank you Thenter and Gypsy! I apologize for the delay, I have just seen your replies.

I have decided to make a pendant. I won't do it right now but it's in my list of projects. Thanks again.
