Hi everyone,

I would LOVE your help -- I need a very elongated cushion cut--much more rectangular than square--about 7.43 x 5.57 x 3.70 to complete the dream engagement ring my fiance and I are building. Prefer F-G, VS1 or above. Also prefer cushion brilliant (over modified cushion brilliant).

My jeweler has one with the exact dimensions above but it's VVS1, F so it's out of our price range.

Everything I'm finding online seems to be more square than rectangular.

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Why such specific dimensions? Are you trying to fit the stone in a setting you already have?

Yes, exactly. After weeks of looking I finally fell in love with a gorgeous setting that requires those exact dimensions, or slightly smaller.

I realize most people pick the stone first, then the setting...but for whatever reason I can't get this exact setting out of my mind. I really want it for my engagement ring. It's a gorgeous platinum diamond halo, unlike any other halo I've tried on.

My jeweler has offered to make setting in a different size, etc, but I'm in love with the porportions of it and the way the rectangle halo looks on my long fingers. Square and circle halos don't look as good.

My jeweler is great, he is also helping me look but I thought I'd also try myself. Do you think this is a "fool's errand," to try to find something so specific?

Do you have a Pic of the setting? It may be worth it to get a custom-repro version of it. It could be very difficult to find a stone with those exact proportions.

I think in the long run you would be happier to get a stone with as close to that ratio you like as possible and just have the jeweler make you the same setting again for your specific stone. Halos for cushions really need to be made for that exact stone or they end up looking a little disjointed. In the end you probably won't notice if the ratio is a smidge off from your original inspiration ring, but you would notice a stone that doesn't fit well in a halo.

What's your budget for the stone? How low are you willing to go in color and clarity? Would you consider a radiant? It's got a similar faceting pattern as a cushion but you're more likely to find an elongated radiant....

This one's close to your dimensions...:

Hard to find you something without the other information though...

One more option:

Ok, last one:

JA does offer PS members an additional discount usually between 1-5%, so if you like these or anything they have you can put it on hold and ask what discount they're giving.

I am not sure if an older cut diamond would work for you but you could try checking oldworlddiamonds.com.
