So I am buying a diamond off the internet...

I have done a fair amount of research and feel that whiteflash''s a cut above H&A is a nice cut...

Although I have a budget of around 3000 for the stone...

So my is that if i got a stone "a cut above H&A" and it was a H on the color scale. But VVS2 or VS2...

Would "H" be cloudy or more tinty? I really want this diamond to be show fire :)
 
Or should I think about getting a SI1 instead of a VS2...

I read the thread for the other person on the same budget as I and it seemed like people were recommending SI1 so now i am back to be undecided...

if it looks cloudy, that is due to very strong fluorescence and/or inclusions.

in this size, you aren''t going to see any tint in an H.
 
thanks! Should I consider SI1 rather than VS2? Since SI1 is eyeclean?

I could buy abit of a bigger stone if I did that...

and also if i buy a bigger stone = bigger face = if it is "a cut above H&A" than the diamond would show more fire correct??
 
That''s right, an H colour diamond with such a great cut will face up perfectly white.

To get the biggest size for your budget, I would look at SI1 diamonds, and just check with the vendor that any diamond you are looking at is eyeclean. (Be sure to specify your own definition of eyeclean, regarding distance & angles of viewing).

An ACA diamond is incredibly well cut and therefore have much better fire, light return & scintillation than a less well cut diamond, you are right. :)

Considering SI1 is a great idea.

Optimizing any one variable usually costs you something else. Optimizing fire usually sacrifices brightness.
 
Here are some to consider:

0.77ct G SI1 H&A - $3153 bankwire price. THis is from GOG but is just as good as an ACA

0.723ct F SI2 ACA - $2900 before PS discount. SI2, but it might be eyeclean.. worth checking!

0.81ct H SI1 - $2963 before PS Discount. Great cut.

When you say that more fire will take away from the brightness... what does that mean?

I thought the brightness was kind of the fire...

Either a like a .71 h&a for 3200 or I could go alittle bigger with SI2 although most of the SI2''s i was looking at had inclusions that would seem to be visible to the eye...

I am looking to order this tomorrow morning haha. Any last opinions?

Yes. :)

Before you buy *anything*, either an SI1 or an SI2, phone the vendor/s and ask how eyeclean the stones are. Tell them exactly what YOU mean by eyeclean.. what distance & angles you want it to look clean from.

If they're both eyeclean to your standards, then there's no reason why you shouldn't go for the bigger stone, if you want to.

That would not be a problem with an ACA diamond, nothing to worry about. A well cut H will also face up plenty white to most people. As for clarity, perhaps initially consider VS2 or a verified eyeclean SI1.

what about that diamond? It doesn''t have ideal polish or sym. and it has a medium blue Fluorescence

Its either this .76 or a clean vvs2 .71 with ideal everything

What does anyone think about this diamond? If you look under the Hearts & Arrows... I think one of the little white arrows pointeed at the heart is a different size than the rest? Should that be a no no?

Not enough info on the first diamond, crown and pavilion angles are needed. The WF diamond looks good, and the images look fine to me.
 
I just hope a .71 will show off the white color and fire good enough...

I''ve seen a H&A but it was like a .91

The .71 is superbly cut and should be an incredible performer - no worries. If you want to go bigger, then you could certainly drop your clarity from VVS to VS or a verified eyeclean SI1.

Probably not, but it depends on the proportions of each diamond, whether one of them had medium to strong blue fluorescence which is said to help a diamond face up whiter. Also the diameter measurements dictate face up size or spread, not the carat weight so the two diamonds could be very similar size.

The .734 I is 300$ cheaper so that makes me lean towards it. Also, it has a larger face therefore it would show off more fire/etc than the other diamond face

Biggy, a larger table won't really help a diamond show more fire, and the difference in table size between the two is negligible. What I would do is this, if you are having difficulty deciding. Call Whiteflash and tell them your preferences for extra fire where possible, ask for either Brian Gavin to look at both diamonds and tell you which one might be the most suitable for you, or another member of the WF team. In this way they will be able to let you know which diamond has the best ' personality' or flair which might suit you best.

Both those diamonds sold from WF within the hour that i was thinking about buying them... how ironic haha

anyways...I asked brian if anything similar caught his eye and he directed me to this one (in comparison for the cut i wanted and size/color)

So I received the diamond and already took it to the Jeweler who has the Diana setting I wanted...

At first glance I was amazed at how pretty this stone was! I mean I hadn''t seen many other great cut diamonds but this was so pretty. When I bought the diamond into the Jeweler, the diamond looked SOOO GOOODDD under those led lights haha. He said it was a great looking stone and had such an amazing cut.

I will post pictures when I get the completed ring back on thursday. Even though this stone is .718 in size, it looks so pretty!
