This Diamond was on Pricescope for $1980 just a few days ago, then removed and is been sold by a vendor now for $2300 so the price of this stone has jumped over $300 in just a few days

.

I need your advise if the following Specs of this Diamond are any good, your thoughts and opinions on this Diamond would be greatly appreciated. (Haven''t got a Picture)

Certificate: GIA
Shape: Asscher
Cut: Select Ideal™
Carat: 0.68
Color: D
Clarity: VS2

Diamond Proportions:
Measurements: 5.07-5.07-3.38
Length to Width: 1.00
Depth Percentage: 66.7 %
Table Percentage: 57 %
Girdle: MED - STK
Culet: None (Pointed)

Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None (Inert)

All feedback welcomed........ What should I do!!!

a) Unlike Round Brilliants, Asschers are difficult if not impossible to choose on #s only (IMO)
b) The specs sound within the "generally desired" range
c) Personally I''d prefer to go down to G or H color if it would buy me more size

d) Prices do go up quickly, new RAP report comes out & UP UP UP. Make sure you ask whichever vendor if they have a Pricescope discount. Wire transfer discounts help too if that''s an option ...

Good luck! Here''s hoping for PIXXXXXX!

Why do they have it listed as Cut: Select Ideal

What are the Cut Grade levels for a Asscher??

I will try and get a picture from the Vendor, this diamond was on Pricescope but no longer as it dosent meet the price range of the other similar sizes. I guess he might have purchased it and uped the price.

Its tricky. Vendors can really call a stone whatever they want to -- and Asschers, to the best of my knowledge, don''t have a set "Cut Grade" ranking system. If you use the one for Emeralds - some kind of yicky Asschers are high rated & some nice ones rank low.

I once saw a new vendor (not a Pscope vendor) start off calling EVERY STONE "Ideal" and then, once some sold, changed the grade of those stones to "Fair". My personal theory (based on nothing but speculation) is that they did that to discourage interest & inquiries in THAT stone, but keep their "inventory" looking full.

I thought if you where purchasing a Asscher stone was to use the Princess Cut grade chart.

Where did you hear THAT? That CAN''T be right ... for instance, Princess cuts generally have large tables (over 70%) where the best Asschers tend to have tables between 55-65%.

Until AGS releases their cut grades for asschers there isn''t a formal cut grade system.
Even with the AGS grade buying without photos is going to be stupid.

There are however several sources for general guidelines to follow when buying them that helps narrow the field.
They can be found in the asscher threads here:

As far as the vendor buying it they might have a customer looking at it and if they provide a lot of info charge for it.
That can easily make a $300 difference.
