That is to say H & A won't affect the price of a stone. Am I right?

It very well may. What one should consider though is that "hearts and arrows" on its own doesn't necessarily mean superb light performance. However, so many shoppers immediately equate it with the best performance (as you may have) that they're aware they can easily charge more for it. :read:

You can say that again.

Shoppers always say:"It has H & A; it has the the forevermark of de beers."

Wink, thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I'm really enlightened.

I think my decision is dominated by the numbers. So I prefer the second one.

But when I saw them side by side, the second one(0.51) appeared much smaller than the first one(0.56). I hesitated. They were both bright and sparkling. The only difference I could tell is that the second one looked "whiter" and "more transparent" than the first one. I liked them both. But I cannot afford both. If I could, I would go for one bigger one.

In my heart, I want to choose the second. In my eyes, I like the bigger one. :wall:

Within the budget, should I "shamelessly" choose the more expensive one(0.56)?

Ahhh, the old "mind clean" versus, this is the one I like dilemma. Did you look at both diamonds in multiple lighting situations? Or did you only look at them both in jewelry store lighting? It is absolutely critical to examine the diamonds in multiple lighting schemes. Almost any diamond will look good in the jewelry store.

In the end, if you buy one liking the other better, you will quickly become dissatisfied with your choice. If you are in a situation where your eyes tell you this and your mind tells you that, then you might need to keep looking until you find a diamond that satisfies both the mind and the eyes.

Please understand though, that your eyes are likely to remain happy long after your mind has given it a rest. Unless, of course, you become as obsessed with sparklies at the rest of us here. Then you will never be totally satisfied and will continue to search and upgrade for the rest of your days. (bwahahahaaaa!)

Thanks again, Wink! You are a great help. I've learnt a lot from you =)
