The following is straight from the GIA cert on the diamond I am considering purchasing SOON!:

1.04 carat
measurements: 5.71 x 5.55 x 3.96mm
depth: 71.7%
table: 74%
girdle: ex. thin to thick
cutlet: none
polish: good
symmetry: good
clarity: VS1
Color: H
flourescence: none

It seems that after my weeks of trying to educate myself and researching to find the right diamond for my budget, I would have a better grasp on whether this is the one. However, I am in need of someone to give me the thumbs up (or down) on this one. The price for this diamond set in a 2mm single solitaire plat. setting is, out the door, $5,400.00. What say you?

What shape is it?

B

It''s got to be a princess cut. My concern would be the girdle.

the price is good..what lab graded it?

It is princess cut. Thanks for the replies. What is the concern with the girdle?

Oh, and it was graded by GIA.

depending on how much of the girdle is extremely thin, it could be more prone to chipping. the long flat sides and sharp corners make princess cuts more vulnerable to chips.

big red flag: ex. thin
full stop, fire reverse thrusters.

Exactly what I was thinking. Extremely thin in a princess cut makes me worried.

Definitely find out where the girdle is extremely thin. If it is only in a small area away from any of the corners, you might be okay.

Thanks, Everyone. I never even considered the girdle as a factor. I do need to ask, though, and we''ll call this the $5K question: is this the best diamond (balance of quality and price) that I will find for $5,400 ($5K is my max for the stone). You have all been very helpful.

i''m not loving the big table on that stone and think you could do better, but if you have seen this stone and love it, that carries the most weight.
