Hey ladies, today has been the WORST day EVER in such a LOOONG time.... Found out around 11:30am when I was on my way to get my hair cut that I didnt have my lil bag/purse with me which has my DL and my cash in it. It was a SUBSTANCIAL amount of $ in it cuz I had JUST gotten paid and had bills that needed to be taken care of...so I just happened to have it on me. It was JUST under $900. Well apparently I either left it on the counter at a local Dunkin Donuts when I went in to get coffee OR I dropped it on the way to the car from inside...either way, I went back there as SOON as I realized I didnt have it and asked the 2 at the counter. They looked at eachother kinda oddly and said it wasnt left behind and no one turned it in. I even called the local PD to see if ANYONE had turned it in. Well OBVIOUSLY saddly enough in THIS day and age...lets face it...someone finds a lil bag with 900 CASH in it...they ARENT going to return it.

so there goes part of my rent to the BF, my car insurance payment and my cell phone bill...I am ROYALLY SCREWED...UGH...thanx for lettn me vent...OY

Ouch! that definitely hurts. The lack of honesty in today''s society is quite sad.... I recently lost a brand new digital camera in Walmart, and (though less important than 900 dollars!)- it was not turned in either

I''m so sorry to hear this...and this is probably a stupid question, but did you check under and around the seats of your car? I know that my little wallet often drops between the seats and gets snagged there, so if you just checked UNDER the seats you''d miss it.

Worth checking if you haven''t already...it has happened to me multiple times.

I can empathize with your situation. Many years ago, during my first real job out of college, I worked for a rather unscrupulous company that paid it''s employees in cash. There were white color employees in the area of the company where I worked, and there were several floors of blue collar guys that ran all sorts of printing presses, etc. In retrospect, I''m sure many were illegal aliens. Anyway, one Friday on payday, I''d put my salary into my handbag, and hid it in the photo darkroom where I worked much of the time. The only people who went in there were me and 1-2 other colleagues. I happened at one point to be out of the darkroom and looked over when I saw the revolving dark door open and a guy from one of the printing floors walked out suspiciously. I ran into the darkroom and found all my cash salary gone! I ran out and looked around for the guy but he''d already gotten on the elevator and left and I didn''t get a good look at him so I wasn''t even sure I could recognize him again. HR felt bad for me but wouldn''t re-pay me so I was out an entire pay period. It totally sucked. My advice, if I may offer it, is to stop carrying around cash anymore. I learned my lesson and after that, I think I made them issue me a check or else I took my cash and left immediately and went to the nearest bank to deposit it. I never left it in my bag again.

I am saying a little prayer that you find it, hopefully some sort of Easter miracle will occur....

I can also empathize with you. When I was in my teens my very first job was as a waitress at a barbecue place that only took cash as payment. I was too young to work legally (13 years old at the time) and between the cash tips, and my cash "base paycheck" I always had cash on me when I left work. Never less than $75, as a matter of fact, and even more when I worked a double on the weekends.

The day that I made the most money EVER in my 13 piddly little years of life (I made $200 during a double on a busy Saturday) .......



....I got robbed. And not just robbed, but beaten up. I kept my money in my front pants pocket to avoid dropping it, and I was on my way to the restroom to get a little cleaned up after my shift had ended. Our restrooms were in a separate little building, kind of like a park''s public restroom. About 100 yards from the restaurant. On my way back, 2 older teenage boys who I had never seen before attacked me and stole my money. They smacked my head against the cement of the building, and threw me on the ground and went through my pockets. For a scary minute there, I thought they were going to do something awful to me. But once they found the cash, they took off.

My head was bleeding from being smacked on the concrete, and I had a black eye from when they were trying to keep me from running away. And of course, all my money was gone

Thank heavens you weren''t robbed or mugged. I know it''s not very comforting, but believe me, there are scarier ways to lose your cash. I, for one, am very grateful that no one mugged you or hurt you for your money. And i really do hope you''ll find it.

Maybe post the loss to Craigslist and offer a small reward? Maybe check those kind of bulletin board websites or your local paper''s "lost and found" section to see if anyone has found it? I know it''s a long shot, but don''t give up until you''ve tried everything!

Again, I''m so, so, so sorry this has happened, it made my stomach drop to read this! And I''m very very glad you''re unharmed, which is really the most important thing of all.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to read this and reply to it. I was EXTREMELY upset about it yesterday and somewhat today since today I got to talk to SO and tell him what had happened. He is away on buisness, but told me where extra cash was and told me to go take care of my bills imediatly so that nothing got cancelled or shut off on me. Im still upset about it and I HATE borrowing money from people... I know he''s my SO and we live together so I shouldnt...but its in my nature to...I feel kinda crappy bout it...but what can ya do. Of course SO thought he was FUNNY when he txtd me at work and told me to just take a loan out of Mr. SO''s bank and I can repay it by ''personal'' favors

LOL sooo glad he thought it was funny...I yelled at him...BUT it DID make me laugh lol. Anyway...thanks for all the thoughts from you guys and Im sorry to the others that had posted that they have had similar situations or money stolen...and to Mediterranean...I am SOOO sorry to hear what happened to you. I agree that it coulda been WAY worse. Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I hope you all have a WONDERFUL easter!

I'm so sorry to hear this!! Just a thought though... I know that some Dunkin' Donuts have survelience(sp?) cameras in them b/c of the strange hours in the wee parts of the morning. I would go back and check it out. If so you could ask the manager to pull the tapes. If not to find your money, then piece of mind that noone at your eatery stole it.

Again I want to thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions. Just a bit ago I had gone to my mothers to fax a form to get my puppy papers for a litter I have at home. Anyway, I went to go leave and couldnt find my keys ANYWHERE! and its NOT a small key chain...its got like 6 keys and 2 car opener chains on it as well. So my mother and I are going NUTS looking...in my car, in her house, and in the bag ive been using. The bag is my SO''s and is like a mail carrying bag. Well i FOUND my keys! the bag has a front zipper on the opening flap of the bag, well apparently I never noticed that it wasnt stiched at the top. SO...what happenes is when you lift open the front flap to go into the inside of the bag...EVERYTHING SLIDES DOWN THE BACK OF THE BAG! I had NO IDEA! so...GUESS where my LIL purse bag was with ALL my money and DL?....YUP IN THAT BPART OF THE BAG! its like if you have a hole in the pocket of your jacket and things slide into the lining...THATS what happened! so THANK you ALL SO much for your thoughts and hoping I would find it! you all are AWSOME! and PS...Legacygirl...CONGRATS on your engagement!

this totally reminded me of when i had my mini van(get your laughs out now lol) and i had a little trash can in the back because i had just taken my 3rd grade girl scouts on a field trip to a water park
anywaaaays i only grabbed my wallet and got home and couldn''t find it anywhere! i gave up all hope and decided to clean out my car to get my mind off it. well i threw all the garbage out of that garbage bag into the dumpster at our apartment and then it hit me
i totally hadn''t looked in the garbage thing...so i had to climb in the dumpster and i found it! of course i smelled like garbage and fell on the ground climbing out of it but it was totally worth it lol

That reminds me of a story...
I have a promise ring that my bf gave me many years ago. Im always fiddling with it cause its a little too big. About 2 years ago, I suddenly noticed that it was missing! I was at home but had been to the store eariler that day. I started to freak because I thought to myself "uuh if I don''t find it he will think Im not responsible enough for a (BIG) engagement ring!!!"

lol. But mostly because the ring meant a lot to me and had such sentimental value to it. I was heartbroken. I looked all over the house and boy was my heart pounding, I was sweating too. I went with my mother back to the grocery store (it was dark out by then) and we were looking with flashlights in the parking lot. We went in the store and searched everywhere. And they were waxing the floors in there too! I had come to terms that I would never again see my promise ring and when he finds out, Ill never get a good engagement ring due to this!

After balling my eyes out, I was ready to go to bed. I had opened up my drawer to get out a pair of pants to wear the next day and there it was laying on my pants in my drawer! I couldn''t believe it. It had come back to me! I was jumping for joy. Turns out (probably 2 minutes) before I went crazy looking for my ring, I had put away clean pants in the drawer. I guess the top part of the drawer pulled the ring right off of me and I didn''t notice.
