So I proposed to my fiancee this past weekend and she loves the ring. the only issue is that its slightly loose.. the diamond doesnt always stay facing up it moves side to side on her finger.. also when taking it off it comes off past her knuckle with little effort it doesnt need to be twisted or anything.. her ring is size 5.25 and we are guessing it should go down to a size 5 for it to fit perfectly.

with that said obviously something needs to be done with the size.

i talked to pearlmans and they have given me 2 options..

1st option - is going through memoire and have them resize the ring.. this option will cost money and take about 2-3 weeks depending on their workload. since its a slight change in ring size i doubt they will need to take out all the diamonds in the eternity band and redo it in a larger ring..

2nd option - adding sizing beads to the ring on the side where it is worn. the sizing beads would be in platinum but will be like an actual bead on the inside of the ring. i.e. if the center stone is at 12o''clock the sizing beads would be at 5o''clock and 7o''clock. they can be removed later on and will make the ring feel snug and when ppl look at it they wont be able to see it unless the ring is taken off. im wondering how does this feel 2 beeds sticking out.. and also i need to make sure it wont void the warranty with memoire.

anyone have a memoire ring that was resized by them? how did it turn out? were you happy? also did anyone have any eternity band resized or have sizing beads put in?

thanks!!!

I don''t have a memoire ring, so I''m no help there, but have you tried the e-ring on with a wedding band? I only ask because wearing 2 rings instead of 1 will make both rings feel tighter. I''d hate for you to spend the money sizing it down to a 5, only to have it sized up to a 5.25 once you get the wedding band.

we dont have a wedding band yet so we cant try that i guess..

will a wedding band really make that much of a difference? from my description and from her telling me it sounds like its loose and needs to be resized.

maybe it just depends--my e-ring fit perfectly when we were engaged, then after buying my wedding band (2.5 mm in width), they were both a bit tight. When I bought my second wedding band (also 2.5mm in width), I had to size up my e-ring and original wedding band a half size. If you don''t have the option of trying a band on in a size 5.25, try a ring sizer. Have her wear her e-ring with a ring sizer and see if it''s still really loose.

Her fingers are likely to get larger with time, so being a bit large now isn''t all bad. I would suggest trying the sizing beads first, to see if that works, before going to the trouble and expense of having the eternity band resized.

thanks for the input..

anyone here get sizing beads before? what did you think of them and how did it feel?

thanks

No personal experience, but there is also the option of sizing "pads"... little squares of metal rather than beads, that *sound* like they might be more comfortable. OR, I know that a small liner or "belt" of metal can be put inside a ring, partway or all the way around, and that can bring a ring down up to a full size.

A quarter size is only .2mm in diameter bigger, about the thickness of three sheets of paper, so adding a wedding band will probably eliminate this issue. If not, then sizing beads or a sizing horseshoe may be the best. Seems unnecessary to remake the ring for a quarter size, or even for half a size.

thanks for the reply.. so i found out from pearlmans that they dont need to remake the ring.. they can just resize the existing memoire eternity ring without taking the individual diamonds out and it will look as beautiful and symmetrical as before. the costs are very minimal. having said this.. what is your opinion on getting the ring resized now?

I don''t know what the weather is like where you are, but if the ring is feeling loose now, she may want to consider what it will feel like in the winter (if you have a winter where you live). My ring fits on the snug side now that the weather has heated up but in March, it''s quite a bit looser.

It would be a shame if that beautiful ring slipped off her finger. I would suggest that she try on as many size 5 sizing rings as she can (at different stores, preferably ones that are a similar width to her e-ring, and with a wedding band, if possible) to get a clear sense of what things will feel like. It''s great that the ring won''t need to be re-made to get it sized down!
