I finally pulled the trigger and went to GIA route. I originally went against the grain and tried my luck with an EGL HK diamond that was graded F VS2. Long story short, after multiple opinions the clarity was truly VS2 however the color fell more into the K/L range. I don't consider myself a master of identifying color, however I could clearly see the yellow in the stone!!
Anyway, the GIA diamond that I have in hand looks great and is exactly what I'm looking for! I don't see any hints of yellow from the top or sides. I'm just looking for a little bit of positive reassurance before moving forward with having the stone set given the large purchase price....
Price: $19,200
Round Brilliant
Measurements: 8.19 x 8.22 x 4.89 mm
GIA Cert #: 2145012711
Ct: 2.01
Color: I
Clarity: VS2
Excellent cut, polish and symmetry
No fluorescence
HCA .9 and excellent all around (light return, fire, scintillation, spread)
Girdle: Thin to Medium, Faceted (3.0%)
Cutlet: None
Table: 59%
Depth: 59.6%
Crown Angle: 34.0
Pavilion Angle: 40.6
Thanks in advance for your input! One month ago I knew nothing about a diamond and feared making such a large uneducated purchase. Fast forward to today and I feel that I found a great stone at a great price point thanks to all the great information and research available at PS!
