Hi there everyone. I need your help. And your awesome photoshop skills. I have an asscher solitaire that I am considering adding a halo to, with some baguettes that were removed from an old anniversary band. The anniversary band used to have alternating baguettes and princess stones channel set. Well...I decided to use the princess cuts out of that band and have a custom made bezel set eternity using those stones and some rounds. I LOVE the result, but now I have these 8 little baguettes that I don''t have a use for, other than possibly a halo around my asscher. But...I have some questions/concerns:

1. I like the look of bezel set halos because I don''t like the *chunkiness* of having the center stone sit higher than the halo. Just a personal preference.

2. I like my plain solitaire setting and don''t want to add anything else to the band in my e-ring. Will a halo look ok without side stones, pave, etc?

3. The way I wear my rings now, the eternity band is in between my e-ring and my plain wedding band. I''m concerned that the halo will overshadow the eternity ring and hide it too much. What do you think?

4. Can someone please photo shop some pics for me, so I can see what the halo would look like? Pretty please? The baguettes are very thin, which is good because I don''t want a very wide halo. I was thinking of having some millgrain added around the inside and outside of the halo....yes/no?

Ok first pic is how I wear my set now...

Ok...this is my OLD annivesary band. So, you can see the size of the baguettes.

I appreciate any and all comments/suggestions! Thanks in advance!

And this is sort of the look I am going for, as for how the halo would look around the asscher, although I don't like the prongs in this one. I know I'd have to get some custom cut bags for the corners, and I'd want it all bezel set. This one is too high, but I wanted to post it for reference.

Someone else posted this one, which I think is bezel set, by Daniel Kay, and I LOVE it!

I can't get the link to work, but it's here:

Beautiful Asscher. I definitely love the concept, but for some reason this photo of the ring just makes the asscher sort of dissapear and blends into everything - hope you are ok with my honesty

. But from afar - there is definitely finger real estate coverage no doubt!

are you going to bezel your asscher as well?

I do appreciate your honesty. Thank you. Yes, I was planning to bezel the asscher as well. And my baguettes are not that wide. I think it''s the prongs in that pic that are making the asscher disappear. I think the size of my baguettes will not not overpower the asscher at all. But, I need a photoshopped pic to get an idea of what it would ACTUALLY look like!

I'm of no use with photoshop, but I wanted to comment on your second point: I think a halo'd head with a plain band would be stunning! It would take attention to the asscher and leave it there, just where it ought to be.

The halo baguettes in that pic enhance the shape and steps of the centre asscher, but with the stones in the band, too, it's a bit much for me.

Thank you! I''ve been researching Gypsy''s posts, because I think she did something similar a few years ago...must find a pic of her finished product!

Hmm...I think Gypsy went with rounds for her halo. It is gorgeous, though!!! Must keep searching...

One more question...will bezel setting the asscher and the halo make the ring less sparkly? Will it inhibit light from coming in? I''m worried about that.

No, light is reflected from the top of the stone. Are the stones in the band as fine a quality as your e-ring stone? That would be my first concern. And my second concern would be that I think for a baguette halo to be perfect, someone would need to source the stones in exactly the right size for your stone. If that is really the kind of setting you want, I''d let the designer source the stones for the halo.

Good point. I''m not sure of the quality of the stones, except for I think they are the same color (H) I think what I might do is take them back to my jeweler and ask his opinion, and possibly have him source some stones if they''re not good enough quality. Thanks.

I''d still like to see a photoshopped image if anyone can help me out!

let me poke around some more...

This is not an easy Photoshop job, which is why no one is stepping forward to do it. It's also not clear what exactly you want to see. Do you want the individual baguettes cut out and arranged around your stone? Do you want the halo that you found cut out and put on your solitaire?

I remember Gypsy and another member ultimately abandoned the asscher halo idea because it just wasn't practical. It was too hard and too expensive to source the baguettes so they fit exactly, and it take a jeweler with considerable skill to set the stones in a channel-set halo. The Daniel K asscher halo is probably the best in terms of quality and execution, but if I recall correctly, they make you purchase the whole ring, center stone and all, and will not work with a stone you provide.

In your situation, I would have the baguettes set into a simple channel set ring that I could wear as a stacker, either on your right or left hand.

aha here it is... I knew I saw it,

ETA: sorry if I would have looked into your link, you already posted the pictures, but I'll pull it over for you

I honestly would not halo it, I think your asscher is lovely as is and it would get lost.

D&T, that ring is GORGEOUS!!!!

Thank you all for your input. I really appreciate it! And I agree with you, Laila619. I think I am going to abandon this idea and do what urseberry suggested about using the bags in a stacker ring. I think I''ll get another eternity band, in the same design as the one I have now, with alternating bags and rounds. Just need to convince the hubby to let me spend more $$
