As long as it is the same stone that is on the cert, you will have a very hard time trying to beat it.

Any reason to think it wont be?
That is not the right way to encourage people to use an independant appraiser.
We will agree that its a great for them to use one but going about it that way is not good.

h0100700,
By the numbers it should be an awesome diamond. :}
Do you have h&a pictures and an ideal scope image for it?

Maybe not this stone, but I have seen stones that don't match the cert. Just sugguesting that he have verified what he is buying is just common sense. Iam sorry to hear that you believe that Iam a walking billboard. Your philosophy that all sales people are altrustic is honorable. I only wish that I had your faith in people. Please tell me how I may be able to give somebody some suggestions without offending you?

From the numbers, it looks like a ball of fire. The price is quite competitive too.

Basset Hound,
Its not so much as what you said as who said it.
Put yourself in a consumers shoes and remember that a lot of people read these threads that this is there first exposure to buying a diamond much less online.
I know when I was first starting out a comment like that on a lot of threads combined with your credentuals that would have made me have second thoughts about buying on the net.
I would be thinking what does he know that I dont?
Im going to the nice guy down the street and buy a diamond even if it costs 5x as much atleast I wont get riped off.

Im exagerating a little but you get my point?

The other appraisers dont do it and neither should you.

this thread here on the other hand it would be perfectly fine to tell him why he should get an appraisal:

If you would like to discuss it further with me please do so in private message.

Sorry h0100700 for the thread hijack.

The specs look great and the price is phenomenal. Be sure to get it appraised and if everything matches up I think you have yourself a winner!

I will be using an idependent appraiser. Mr. Wolf @ Justappraisals.com.

I used the HCA to put in the numbers and it seemed like a very good stone.

I am a little concerned because all of the stones my girlfriend has pointed out to me are G color or above. These stones for the size are beyond my budget.

We are going to view the stone on monday, wish me luck.

Storm, I think you're overreacting.

If Ed had said "only an independent appraiser can help you make sure the stone matches up".....or "you really can't know about a stone without taking it to an independent appraiser".....then perhaps I'd see your point. RockDoc used to do that, and I really felt it crossed the line.

I think, however, that's Ed's point is more generic, and I don't find that comment self-promotional. I think the witch-hunt on self-promotion is getting a bit carried away, to be honest.

However, to satisfy the masses, I'LL say it......it's always a good idea to get an independent appraisal.

There.....is everyone kosher now?
