Hi all! Been browsing some diamonds and just came across this one.

Union Diamond

What are your thoughts in regards to the angles? BTW you have to pull up the cert to get those measurements.

First link didn't work, second did.

I'd pass on that diamond, it is not well cut at all.

If you don't mind telling us specs of your search and a budget, maybe some people here can suggest some stones.

Thanks! I have no idea of what to look for when it comes to the angles. How did this stone get a very good graded cut? I think that the boyfriend is not wanting to spend any more than 8,000 total. I''m pretty simple as far as the setting goes...just want a pave band with 6 prongs. Probably a 3mm band. I''m wanting a decent sized stone since the setting will be simple. I suppose a carat would be fine. I have a pretty small ring size...around 5 1/4 so I guess a 1 ct would look big enough...but I''m all about the bling so I really wanted something bigger. LOL As far as specs go, I don''t want to go lower than an H in color and as far as clarity is concerned I''m fine with anything as long as it''s eye clean. The cut is a bigger priority to me rather than having something that''s IF. I''m thinking I can probably find a setting that''s no more than $1500 so the budget on the diamond would be around $6500 or $7000. Can I find something great in this price range? Any help from ya''ll fellow pricescopers is HUGELY appreciated!!

I can''t get the link to work for some reason. The very good cut if GIA or vendor applied is no guarantee of a well cut diamond as sometimes these terms can be used leniently.

Check for eye-clean, from both vendors if you are interested.

Thanks! It''s good to see that I can get a G in this price range. I don''t think that I''m all that color sensitive but I was worried that an H might appear to be a little warmer if it''s put into a setting where the band has Fs and Gs. Is there that much of a difference in the colors that it would be noticeable to the untrained eye? As much as I would LOVE a set of studs that big the e-ring is my main priority now. I''ll just have to hang on to my channel set hoops for a little longer

I''m not familiar with the AGS rating system. Is 0 the highest rating?

Stone-Cold, could you please tell me what the little dark specks are that I see in the Hearts images from HPD? Also, I noticed that in the arrow images the lower arrows appear to have almost a shadow? They seem to appear darker than the arrows at the top. To my amatuer eye the all appear to be wonderful stones. I wouldn''t kick any of them out of bed

. We aren''t in a huge rush to purchase a stone but I just wanted to get a feel for what kind of quality we could get with the budget. SO is wanting to wait till summer. So hopefully June or July. I''m sure none of these will be around for that long but you can bet I''ll be needing your advice in pretty soon! Would you mind telling me which of the 4 is your number one and why? Also I was wondering if whiteflash has any discounts. I noticed that with HPD we''d be getting an 8% discount and that alone is enought to make me want to buy from there. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions and search for stones!

Those spots on the hearts and arrows images are inclusions. You might not see them in real life if they are eye-clean. Wink, the owner of HPD, is a very nice and funny guy to work with and you can be sure if he says it is eye-clean it is so, look at some of the videos he made of the diamonds for his customers. :) I suggest you talk to him if you are interested in these diamonds, probably ask him to recommend with one is better or make a video of both of them together for you comparison.

Good Luck. :)

Forgot to say, about the discount, HPD is 5% with wire-transfer, I don't think it is culmulative. Same for WF's ACA, 5% with wire-transfer. You can call them up for confirmation.

Ditto the above, you can''t tell by images which are going to be eyeclean or not so speak to Wink about the ones you are interested in - he is a great guy and you will enjoy speaking with him!

Thanks so much Stone-Cold and Lorelei. I noticed on HPD that it said 5% discount for PS members and 3% discount for wire transfer. So would that be an 8% discount? I didn''t notice any settings on his website. Does he make settings or would I get a setting from somewhere else and then send it to him to be set? Thanks for recommendation. I think I''m definitely leaning towards him for the stone. You guys are great!

I dont think you will see a difference between an H center stone and F-G side stones, my ering is an I and my wedding band is an F and I cannot notice the difference in normal lighting and barely notice a different in dim lighting.

That''s great news! Thanks Diamondrnglover!

Anyone know the answer to my questions about HPD?

I THINK the 5% for PS members is contingent on paying with a bank wire, I don't think it is 8% altogether, probably PS members can get the strongest discount of 5% if they pay by bank wire.

I remember a few posts to that effect, but having never bought from HPD, can''t verify it. Give Wink a call as ask.

I just want to comment on this. When we get everything up and running properly on my new web site there will not be the 3 wire transfer and the 5% pricescope wire transfer discount both showing. Since so few of our stones are actually listed on Pricescope yet I decided to show both of them which was probably in error. No one is now going to now say they are not a Pricescoper and only get the 3% so at least for now all of my internet clients have been getting the 5% wire transfer discount.

It is not intended to be, nor is it, a cumulative offer, I can only give the maximum of 5% for wire transfer. I will ask my web guy to take off the 3% until we get the ability to list all of my stones here and show that 5% on Pricescope so that my Pricescope friends will get the full 5% as a thank you for finding us here. Currently I have to list all of the diamonds by hand, and it is too long a process. This should be fixed soon.

Another comment. Yes we make settings, that is also soon to be on this website. I have an old website that shows them, but I think it would not be in keeping with forum rules to direct you to that site. The new site is just so much better, even without all of the things to be soon released than the old one that I feel it is better to have the new one up, and keep adding to it as we go.

I apologise if this is confusing for you, we are definitely a work in progress!

I want to thank you and the others who have given this advice. I can not tell you how much it means to me to have so many people say such nice things about me in a thread like this. There are many fine vendors here, and we all rely on the good word of our friends and clients.

I am enjoying a weekend out of the office, my first in more than a couple of months when I was not either working in the office or traveling for business purposes. I have been having a wonderful time fishiing yesterday, working in the yard with my very incredible wife of 35 years today, and tomorrow after a mother''s day brunch with my mom, my wife and my son''s family he and I are taking the grandkids fishing.

Oops, wandering, sorry. I just wanted to say thank you and let you know that on Monday I will be back in the office.

Wink

Thank you for clarifying all of that Wink! I hope to be working with you in the near future to find my perfect stone! I can already tell you''ll be a joy to work with!
