My grandpa is in the hospital with apparently major internal bleeding. Which has been going on for at least 5 days. They have given him 17 units and cannot give him more or he''ll go into shock. It seems they don''t knowwhere he''s bleeding to stop it but apparently aren''t "concerned" enough to figure out where its coming from. Hes apparently seen a doctor all of maybe 10 minutes per day. Explain to me why in 5 days they have not figured out where the blood is coming from and how the hell to stop it?

They are KILLING HIM with their ignorance.

HUGS, AME!!! Your grampa will be in my thoughts and prayers...I am a nurse, and I still can definitely understand your frustrations...its hard. Sometimes we just dont know all the answers....medicine is not black and white..how old is your grandpa??

Just turned 86. He was literally as healthy as a 16 year old athelete. He was constantly going and then suddenly Friday, just collapsed. He had an ulcer supposedly and they thought that's what it was, turns out it wasnt. But since they have no freaking idea what it is...and clearly are not taking the steps to figure itout... just waiting and letting him bleed is NOT figuring it out!!!

I don't understand why my family isn't fighting for this more. I am so upset...and Im sick so I can't even GO there to see him let alone YELL at anyone.

You have my biggest hugs ame!!! I am so sorry about your grandpa, I have been in your shoes with my Nanny. I pray they find the source of his bleeding and SOON. I'll keep all of your family in my prayers

Oh, Ame, a very big hug for you! I''m sorry that things aren''t going well for your Grandpa but let''s hope they are doing more than it seems.

You are very lucky to have had him for so long - both of my Grandpas were gone before I was born. I never knew either of them.

Best wishes - please keep us posted - you will be in my thoughts. . .

Oh Ame, I am so sorry to hear this. My dad went through something sort of similar last year, but it was after a procedure so we knew where he was bleeding from. Was your grandad on any blood thinners like cumadin or aspirin? That makes a big difference.

Those doctors need to get their arses in gear and find out what''s going on!!! I''m not sure what they do--a cat scan or x-ray or something??--to find the source, but there HAS to be a source somewhere!!!!

Hand in there sweetie. Someone needs to seriously crack the whip at that hospital.

((((HUGS))))

I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather! Hopefully they can figure out where the blood loss is before it is too late.

(((many hugs))) to you and your family.

*BIG HUGS* I hope they find out what is wrong with him and you take care of yourself too.

If her has insurance then it may be that the company is literally keeping the doctors from your grandfather…it sucks but those doctors can be sued big time by the HMOs if they see him or run tests without clearing it first.

I am very sorry about your grandfather, your family will be in my prayers.

You have my thoughts and prayers.

AND: !!!!!

Keep us posted. And take care of yourself!!!You''ll be no good to anyone if you make your self sicker.

Ame, I''m sorry your grandpa is so ill. I pray that he will get well soon. Who has the durable power of attorney? This person should be contacting the doctors ASAP and get a straight answer, and get to the bottom of this. I can''t imagine him being there for 5 days and nothing is being done.

So sorry to hear! My father had a very similar thing some years back. Internal bleeding that took days to find, and he nearly bled to death in the interim. He was thousands of miles from home and I was making plans to fly up when they found the problem. His colon was ruptured and they had to remove a good-sized piece of it. Ten years later, still going strong. Best wishes for your grandpa. Just wanted you to know the delay isn''t necessarily incompetence; I''m sure they''re doing their best with what they have.

Big hugs Ame - keep strong for him

Ame,

I, also, will be thinking of you. I really feel for you.

Hugs to you and prayers for your grandfather. You need to keep after the people at the hospital - dog them until you get answers.

Hang in there, Ame.

Thinking positive thoughts here for you, your grandpa, and your family.
