hey everyone. i was just wondering what you would prefer. a solitaire diamond .40 in carats, SI1 in clarity but J in color. or a .40 in carats, SI2 in clarity, but a I in color? just anyones opinion i would appreciate it. thanks.

oh and how do i get "settings" for pendants or necklaces. or if you could tell me what its called thanks. im a noob.

doesn''t really matter either way, as long as they''re well-cut and eye-clean.

I agree with Julie. Doesn''t matter as long as it''s eye clean and well cut.

Where are you planning on buying your jewelry?

from shaneco. i know the reputation of shaneco around here but im only 19. need the financing and trade-in benefits. and the 120 day money back guarantee just incase she wants something different. thanks for your advice though.

oh and what about a I2 .50 carat color H. does it still not matter?

Don''t. Just ''cause. You might run into durability problems with an I2.

An I2 will definitely not be eye clean.

Since you're only 19 and you said you need to finance it, do you have to buy a diamond pendant now? Have you considered buying a necklace that you can afford? I don't like seeing people go into debt to buy a diamond.

I am going to have to say that if you are in a financial pickle you should cut down the size a little bit and go with a .30 ct to save some money, but still have a decent sized beautifully cut real diamond pendent. Then you can get this HandA ideal cut I, SI1 from JA for 440 dollars:

diamond option 1

That way you have a twofold advantage. You know that you are going to get incredible light performance which is all you really need in a pendant necklace. Its not like anybody is going to be seeing it in any position other than face up. Plus it would come with a five year 100% upgrade policy.

I would also say give Blue Nile a complete search. They have a wide variety of 300-500 dollar diamonds ranging from GSI1, JVS1, HVS2, and so on with AGS Ideal cut certs. That being said, if you HAVE to finance a pendent for a 300 dollar diamond, it is ridiculous for you to a buy a real one. Get something else/fake for now that will sparkle. Enjoy the luxury of a real diamond when it is a necessity (as in my E ring purchase) or when you have got more than enough money to handle it.
