Hello!!
Since I started browsing this site, I have learned so much about diamonds!
I am going to look at some cushion stones this weekend, and am still a little confused on what I should be looking for as far as a cut. I don''t really understand crown and pavillion, or what is ideal with regards to depth.
Would anybody be able to give me a quick tutorial??
The stone I am most interested in is 2.41 carats, G color, SI 1, and is 7.76 X 7.6. I told him I wanted a more square shaped stone, and this certainly sounds like it would be more square.
Please help!

Mark T. at Engagement Rings Direct will surely be able to help you. He is the cushion cut guru and I can tell you from our experience that he will find whatever you want in your price range. He is a super guy.

Not a cushion expert by any means but from reading PS, I know that you''ll want to keep the depth in the mid 60s and the table around 50s- to mid 60s. Make sure the symmetry and polish are both at least VG. Avoid girdles that are very thin and below, slightly thick and above.

Also, cushions have many looks from the chunky antique to the modern. Which type do you like?

Oh boy... I have no idea what I like! This is the first time I am actually going to look at stones, so hopefully I''ll have more of an idea after the weekend.
What would differentiate an antique cut from a more modern one?

Here is a good place to start to find the difference in modern and antique cushions. You can do a search and find lots of pics of these stones here, too.

Here is the link.
