Thoughts on this Spess please? I am looking for a bright orange color, no brown tones. This one has "bubble" inclusions.

The cut is a bit funky, which I kind of like.

If I get it, it will go in the cushion LOGR setting (I'm joining the club!)

Cut looks great! Owning a stone from CWMNBN, I can vouch that his stones rock! I think the Tanzanian spess is known for these bubble inclusiuons, so as long as they''re not distracting and the stone is priced accordingly- I''d go for it!

He says this is one of the cleanest he''s seen.
I am seriously loving the color, just want to make sure before I buy.

Funny, that people can tell cutters from a picture.

It''s almost like fingerprints.

I''m no expert, but I think it''s gorgeous!

The cut looks great and yes, Tanzanian spess is known for more yellowish with bubble-like inclusions. In this case, the inclusions look obvious to the eye. I do not know your tolerance but the stone is worth a look-see. And yes, I know who the cutter is as well, so it should not be a problem if it turns out that the stone is not agreeable to your taste.

Thanks, MissPinky!

Would the inlcusions hinder performance?

No, the inclusions will hardly affect the performance of the stone because most of the bubbles look very small. However, I do see one particularly large bubble in the top left hand corner and that one would bother me personally.

I saw that larger bubble. Too bad it can''t be covered....

I love the color though, and the funky cut!!

Okay! I''ve asked him to send it to me!

He''s quick. I was just there to look at your stone, and it''s already gone. Glad it was you who got it.

Please post pictures when it arrives!

I have a nigerian spess from him. His work is pretty impressive. Make sure you post lots of pics when you receive it!

Yay! I love it! Please post pics when you get a chance!

I have a pinkish tourmaline on the way from him, and he''s working on some sapphire rough for a colleague of mine and some lipstick red tourmaline for me! I have no idea how long it will take to be done, but I really love his work!

am i the only one that doesn''t know who CWMNBN is?

Nice fanta orange spessertine. Yeah it appears to be from Tanzania, the faceters refer to the small bubbles as sugar. I guess a reference to what it looks like. It is a nice color and a nice cut as well. I think it is a good stone as long as the price is good. I have seen some of the Tanzanian material come out clean and some with this type of inclusions. Just like the Nigerian Spess will have these spiderweb looking inclusions in them. A way of being able to tell the location of the material. A finger print. Nice stones.

I love those spess. I am in a serious debate with myself between one of those, a CWMNBN red tourmaline, a glowing sleeper or a pair of diamond studs. I know what the safe, classic answer is, but the alternatives are all so wonderful...

I LOVE the color and can''t wait to see pics of your finished project!

Lady Disdain, what do you mean by glowing sleeper?
BTW, I hate making choices like that too. I have so many things on my gem jewelry list.

I presume Lady D''s definiition of a glowing sleeper is a gemstone with fine silk (a sleepy look) that has a tendency to glow when viewed under low light conditions.

I got a malaya garnet from this cutter. Impressive work.

I love spessartite and the color of this one looks great. I can''t wait to see pictures. And I am baffled about CWMNBN.
