I''ve just recently found this site and have been extremely impressed with the knowledge reading through the forums. Since I am pretty new to the process, I''d like some feedback on two stones I''ve narrowed my search down to. My priority is getting the largest, eye-clean, and beautiful stone I can find for under my budget of ~ $15,000.

Stone A Stone B
Size: 2.02 2.00
Cut: EX EX
Color: H H
Clarity: SI1 SI1
Polish: EX EX
Sym: EX EX
Flour: MB N

Depth: 62.0% 59.6%
Table: 57.0% 60.0%
Crown: 34.5% 33.0%
Pavil: 41.0% 41.0%
Girdle: M to SThk 4% Med 3%
HCA: 2.0 1.3

Dim: 8.06 x 8.09 x 5.01 8.21 x 8.19 x 4.89
Price: $13,903 $15,210

Both diamonds were determined to be eye-clean by the vendor (layperson at 6-8 inches can''t determine flaws) and have 50%/75% star and lower halfs. No ideal-scope or other images are available other than the GIA certificate image.

Stone A is cheaper and the more "traditional cut" and has some fluoro that might help the H color seem a bit whiter, but has a lower HCA score and is obviously cheaper.
Stone B has a larger spread (will look bigger?) and has an excellent HCA score but is more expensive.

I''m leaning towards Stone A at the moment, but am not sure if its worth the extra money to go with Stone B. Any thoughts and advice is GREATLY appreciated!

Can you get photos? Honestly, you probably won''t be able to tell if the extra money is worth it to you without seeing the two stones.

Hi bigbmac

Do you have any images for either of these such as Idealscope if they are sold online?

These are both from Blue Nile, and when I asked the live chat person, she said they don''t have IS or actual photos of the stones unfortunately.

In that case images won''t be forthcoming. Really without there isn''t much we can tell you as either have the potential to be great diamonds - or they could have issues depending on various factors we won''t know without images such as angle averages and overal cutting precision.

If you want images, get the GIA report numbers from the BN website and see if another vendor can call the stones in to take photos and IS images for you. There may be a small charge to do this, but on a purchase this large, it would be worth it IMHO.
