Jonas, congrats on buying the diamond! But I highly encourage you to choose a setting from WhiteFlash! You don't want to have to send the setting to James Allen to be set! They will probably charge you a setting fee, plus you have the extra shipping out to them! Plus WF will be responsible if there was any damage to the diamond during setting, which is rare, but possible. If you wanted a setting from JA, we could have recommended a diamond from them.

What style setting is it?

i ordered the stone loose as i couldnt afford to get the setting yet.. im not sure how it works.. would i order a setting and have it shipped and then take it to a local person to set.. or do i then have to send my loose stone out to whoever i buy the setting from?? thanks

It is always best to buy both from the same place if you can, even if you had WF hold on to the diamond for you until you were ready to make payment for the setting. Otherwise, I would have the diamond delivered and go to a nice local jeweler and buy the setting there and let them set it. Local jewelers are not going to want to set a diamond in a ring when they sold neither one, and you'll have little recourse if they do a bad job with the prongs or something. In any regard, they won't cover your stone for damage. But it doesn't make real sense to buy the diamond at WF and then send it to James Allen to set. It would be a pain and add to the cost with the extra shipping and setting fees. Also, you'd have to jump through some hoops to get the ring insured before the stone was set, and that is just a little more inconvenience.

Ask them Jonas. And go to a really fine jeweler because maybe they carry higher quality than a mall jeweler or a discount jeweler.

I do need to warn you of one thing, though. Never say you bought a diamond online. That makes regular jewelers mad. If they ask where you got such a beautiful stone, tell them that you got it from a jewelry store in Houston, seriously. Then you won't have to listen to a lecture on how bad/dangerous it is to buy a diamond on the internet!

And if they don't have what you want, ask WF to send you a label to send the diamond back to them which you will pay for, and then get them to set the stone. They should ship back free since you would be buying a setting from them.
