Long story short...
I bought my wedding band and left the set at the store to be resized. I picked it up and noticed the bands didn''t fit flush together... They brought it back to the jeweler and came back a while later and handed me my diamond in two pieces...
After some arguing, they said they''d replace it with something equivalent but wanted to keep the broken diamond to recut and sell to make some money. (BTW: The broken diamond was a family heirloom!)
ANYWAYS... They brought in a new diamond, clarity I1 and color I. It''s so awful. I complained and they said my original diamond had a lot of inclusions, even though it only had 1 tiny one that was difficult to even find under 10x microscope. But after it broke I looked at it again and it did look really bad, but only AFTER it broke. So they brought in another I1 color J. Again, I complain. Now, they''ve ordered a. I1 F.
My original diamond was appraised in 1974 and the appraisal just says "very fine cut and color" with no official rating.
So here are my questions...
Was the rating system in affect in 1974?
How could they have broken the diamond originally?
And would the diamond cracking cause fishers throughout the rest of the diamond? Or would it be a clean break?
Sorry, I tried to make it short but there''s a lot going on...
Thanks for any help/info/advice
