Hi All!
I have been lurking on the forums for a few months, trying to educate myself; I am planning on getting engaged sometime in the next couple of months. My gf wants the tiffany''s setting with round center and pear side stones, and there is NO WAY that I am paying tiffany''s inflated prices! Having shopped around at all the local jewelers, I decided that I will probably get my center stone online and have my local jeweler source the pear side stones and make the ring. My budget is 13k MAX (would like to spend around 11k) and I am looking for at least a 1.5ct center stone. GF wants platinum setting, but is okay with white gold b/c she doesn’t want to have smaller center stone just because she had to have platinum.
Anyway, cut is the most important factor to me, then color and thirdly clarity. All of the well cut center stones that I have seen D-G are 10k+ and I finally found this one on WF and would like to have your opinion of it. I ran it through the diamond calc, and it scored very well; the only thing that wasn’t excellent was the spread, and that was rated very good. Here is the info on the stone that I am considering. I uploaded the photo of the stone, and I will try to upload the idealscope and other images as well.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this stone, the ring or my plan in general. Id also like to have your guess at the WF price (I will post actual price in a couple of days) How much should I expect to pay for 2 matching pears .56ct of like color and clarity (that’s the exact proportions of the ring from tiffany''s)? Cant wait to see your responses.

Thanks,
-Mike

The stone looks good if those inclusions aren't visible to the eye. WF is honest about how eye clean a stone is, if you ask them. Leon Mege does a beautiful round with pear sides setting, and he will find the matching pears. The cost of the pears obviously is going to depend on the color and clarity you choose. I think you will need to stick with the $13,000 budget to pull this off.

Here is the idealscope image of the diamond. WF says that the inclusion near the center is visible to the naked eye at 25cm...does that mean that it isnt visible at 30cm? Also, the inclusion is clear, not black...What are your thoughts?
Thanks,
-M

An inclusion from 25 centimeters away is pretty visible (i mean that''s what 9 inches?). While I''m sure that people who don''t look at diamonds all day, will not be able to pick up a clear inclusion, those who do will be able to pick it up.

I think it comes down to, if I knew about the inclusion, and even if I knew nothing about diamonds and couldn''t see it myself unless pointed ot it, it''d just bug me. Basically, I''d rather drop the color down to an H, than have an inclusion that people would be able to see. But everyone is different to be "mindclean."
