My friends, need your help again. This time, to pick a setting for this emerald cut Malaya garnet, from dear Barry.

3.3ct, 9.2x6.9mm. Color goes from reddish pink to peach, to even a light brown, in different lighting.

I know I want rose gold, with some diamonds. Other than that, don''t have a clear idea.

So far, I found these two:

#1 LOGR

#2 LOGR (switch the head for emerald cut of course)

All suggestions welcome! Thanks.

Yingh,
I put a malaya in rose gold and it got lost. I would do yellow gold. I have since taken it out of the rose gold. Both settings are nice, it''s just how ornate you want to be.

Neither! LOGR has a EC setting I loved that hasn''t been listed for a while; its for an EC solitare set E/W with 3 sided pave diamonds down the shank. It was gorgeous, classic, yet unique and somewhat understated. I haven''t seen it in a while but I''m sure they have it. I wish I had a picture to show you.

IndyLady, what you have described sounds interesting! I can wait, that's for sure...

How about #3 this one?

TL, thanks for the feedback. I have a smaller malaya in WG and it is cold looking. I have always thought that RG is the way to go for malayas. I am just not a big fan of YG, sigh...

#3 is a clear winner for me, but I always go for very geometric designs so that must have something to do with it

I think what TL describes has a lot to do with the style of the piece and the amount of metal seen from the top. That''s why I agree with her that #1, although nice for some other stones, might be too much in RG for this one.

I''m with Ma re.

How does this grab you?

I like the 1st one (that was the pave one right?) and I reeeeeallly like the one Gailey just posted!

Yingh, I love #3. It seriously reminds me of Pierreone''s sapphire ring from BGD. link
