Hi guys,

I have been looking for a stone and I think I narrowed my mind to the following stones. Please let me know about your professional opinion which one is the best for the money. Is there usually a difference in price/quality between a round or princess cut?

Hi guys,

I have been looking for a stone and I think I narrowed my mind to the following stones. Please let me know about your professional opinion which one is the best for the money. Is there usually a difference in price/quality between a round or princess cut? This depends, generally rounds are more expensive but this is subject to variance depending on other factors.

As before with this one definitely need an IS image and to check if it is eyeclean....

Thanks a bunch

Hi joey,

Since size seems to be of some importance to you, it should be pointed out that a Princess cut of the same weight as a round will face up smaller, these are substantially smaller. So if you are wanting the most size, stick with the rounds.

I would ask JA about the two you've picked. Are they eyeclean? Is the fluorescence having any negative affect on the first stone? Depending on what you hear with those questions, you can proceed with asking for an an Idealscope image. i.e. If both are clean/no negative affect, get pics on both and post them here and we'll help you assesss them. Personally, I do not care for the angle combo on the second one, that would not be one I would consider.

Thanks guys, I will contact them tomorrow to get the IS pictures and will upload them into here to get your opinion. The reason why I deviated a bit to the princess cut is because it seems like the princess cut stones are cheaper than the round, I thought I would get a better quality princess cut stone for my budget of $10000. Also, I would like to have a ring with princess cut side stones. I am not sure my local jeweller would build me such ring. Should I buy the side stones online? or it would be cheaper to get them with the ring setting?

Thanks again.

You''ll get the most bang for your buck from a round.

I would try and get the setting from the vendor you get the diamond from, for a couple reasons. One, many jewelers won''t set a diamond they didn''t sell you (you may have already asked your and know though), and more importantly, almost none will insure it should something happen while setting. i.e. chips, cracks, etc. So it''s best/easiest to go with the vendor if possible.

JA has this setting, which already comes with sidestones.

I''ll be watching for your update on the pics!

Thanks Ellen, I talked to Heather at JA and she will send me the IS pictures tomorrow. Once I get them, I''ll post them.

i really like the setting that you picked.

Cheers,
Joey
