Need Prayers Please. Missing Friend

Please send your prayers and good thoughts this way. A family friend has been missing since late Saturday. He''s divorced and had been living with his mother. His son was the last to see him on Saturday night after a wedding. My dad started searching for him yesterday and the police finally started today. My dad is heading up search and rescue because he''s the "town man" for the town that our friend lives and was last seen. My dad knows all the roads, back roads, creeks, waterways, outbuildings, etc. They have people, horses, 4-wheelers checking along the railroad tracks and creek beds. Assorted people are checking waterways and fields, ditches, ravines, etc. The only thing that has been found was behind his mother''s house by the barn. There was a 6 pack with only one missing and his cigarettes. I find it strange that he would have left 5 beers and his cigarettes, but at this point, I don''t know what to think. I have a feeling that he''s dead, but he still deserves the respect to be found.

So, all good thoughts and prayers will be much needed and appreciated.

Oh my goodness that''s so scary. I hope the search ends soon and that your friend is safe and sound. Does anyone have a guess as to how the six pack and cigarettes might relate to the disappearance?

No news yet. But, there are more people now that the work day is done. We figure there''s somewhere around a hundred or so people looking, which for a town of 600 is quite a lot. His daughter finally got here, she''s kind of in denial about the whole thing. She thinks he''s just at a friend''s house or something. I feel so bad for his family. His daughter was in my class and she was actually the first friend I made when I moved to IL. His ex-wife is losing it. His son is going over and over their last conversation.

I don''t know what the beer and cigarettes has to do with anything, besides that a smoker doesn''t leave his cigarettes if he''s PLANNING on going somewhere, and a drinker doesn''t leave his fresh beer. We live in a very rural area. My initial thought was that he went to pee in the woods and fell or something, but they''ve checked over that whole area. Another of my thoughts is maybe he wanted one last beer and one last cigarette and then committed suicide. And, in that case, he could have hiked miles into the timber before doing it.

Currently, they seem to be concentrating on the creeks and surrounding areas.

They just brought in a helicopter and it is now flying over the timber, hoping to see smoke from a fire or something.

Does he have a history of depression or anything?

Do the local stores in your area sell single beers? I know it''s a weird question, but I just figure if they did that he would buy one of those for his "last beer" if that''s what it is.

Did the son say anything about maybe a "goodbye" type of conversation...overly sentimental maybe?

I really hope he is found safe and sound!

Lucky~ In this area, we don''t have single beers. That concept is really odd to me, in fact. They''ve been over and over the last conversation and it seemed "normal".

There about to head in for the night, they''ll start again in the morning.
 
Oh dear. I hope he turns up alive and well, with a bag full of money from his impromptu Vegas jaunt or something.

Is he the sort who would up and leave? Had he been troubled by anything?

I would like to include my prayers for his safe return to those already offered.

Something of this nature is very upsetting to everyone who knows him.
 
The search is called for the night. Every thought that anyone had as to where he might be turned up with nothing. He doesn't usually go far from home. He rides a bike everywhere and I don't think he even owns a car. I don't think he would up and leave. He has been upset since he and his wife split, but they still spoke regularly.

There are miles and miles of timber and fields that still need to be searched. And, I think tomorrow they will check in the swimming holes.
