I am thinking about buying this diamond. I don''t want the diamond for an investment - I just want it to look good for friends checking out the ring. What do you all think? Is it a good deal?

Does it have a lab report? Probably not. Irregardless, assuming you have seen the stone and it looks nice to your eye, it is probably worth the money. $2000/ct does not get you much in a diamond that size.

Just be aware that if it does not have a cert, there is a good chance that it is not actually I Si2. And you want to be aware of any treatments, in particular fracture filling.

By all means have it independently reviewed by a graduate gemologist not connected with the sale. 3000 dollars is still $3000 dollars and though it may be a bargain, you want to know what your are getting.
