Hello!

Hoping to propose early next year so I thought I'd start doing some research.

What does everyone think of this diamond?

Bit concerned because looking at it, I can see that the symmetry is a bit off.
Will this impact the brilliance of the diamond much?

If, you don't think its any good could you please give me some pointers on what I should be looking for?

Thanks!

First, I'm not an expert, but I'm sure others will chime in as well. The only lab currently offering a cut grade for princess cuts is AGS, so I think that they are a good place to start. They measure the stones light performance and offer a grade, helping to eliminate a lot of non-performers. You can't purchase fancy cuts based on the numbers, so you should request ASET images of any stone that you are considering (other than AGS0), this will give you a better idea of how you can expect the diamond to perform.

As far as the diamond that you posted, IMO the table is too large and you would likely get a lot of glare. I would also consider going up a bit in color and down in clarity. You won't be able to appreciate the VVS1 clarity but you will likely see a faint body color in the corners in the I J color range. Most PSers feel that the most value is at the G-H VS1-SI1. These stones face up very white in their settings and most will be eye clean. VS2s and under need to be evaluated for eye cleanliness by a GG. James Allen can offer you both the ASETs that you need and the GG assessment of the stone. I believe they will do three free of charge.

If you'd like us to make alternative recommendations for you, just let us know. Congrats on your upcoming engagement and welcome to PS! =)

Thanks Christina!

I will take in your advice and look for another diamond that meets that criteria.

Should I be looking for a high 60's table size?
What's the ideal table/depth size?

If you could kindly recommend some others, that would be much appreciated.
My budget is 10K.

Thanks again :D

I hope someone else with more princess cut experience can chime in and offer you some suggestions.

The ACA princess cuts from WF are incredible, unfortunately I'm not finding much in your range. I think it would be worth giving them a call and telling them your budget and what you hope to achieve with it and see if they can locate a stone for you. I'm sure that others will chime in soon to with other ideas. :))
