Hello! I am about to upgrade my diamond to a 1.6 carat, and I wanted to know what you all thought about the stats of this particular stone:

Carat: 1.60
Color: H
Clarity: SI2
Girdle: Sl. Thick to Thick
Measurements: 7.49 x 7.41 x 4.6
Depth: 61.7%
Table: 58
Crown: 14.9
Pavilion: 42.4%
Cutlet: none
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good

From what I can tell it looks pretty good, but I just want to make sure there are no red flags that I''m missing!

This will be the center stone in my 3-stone engagement ring.

Thank you!

Hi LMD,

Does this diamond have an EGL grading report, and if so, which EGL lab is it - USA, Israel, Antwerp etc? The proportions appear to be good, an Idealscope image would be very helpful if you can get it. Check carefully it is eyeclean to your standards. It appears it could be a nice stone, so if you are ok with the type of grading report and depending on which lab, and that it is a nice make of diamond and not a superideal - and the price is right, it appears to be worth further evaluation. Is it with an online vendor and have you seen any others to compare?

Yes, it has an EGL USA grading report, and I have seen the stone in person. It is eye clean and doesn''t appear to have any blatant problems from what I can see. The cut advisor comes back mostly with "excellent" ratings, so I was glad to see that.

How can I get an idealscope image? Would that be through my jeweler?

Thanks for your help!!

That is helpful to know it is EGL USA, thanks. It appears to be a well cut stone, as I said before, not up to superideal standards, but it depends on what you are looking for. As you have seen it and like it, then that is a huge help! As to an Idealscope image, your jeweller might be able to get one, but I would think it is more likely he may not. If you had time, you could have ordered one here - https://www.pricescope.com/idealscope_indx.asp but really nothing trumps your own eyes. I would ask if you can check it out away from the store lights in lighting which is more true to the everyday lighting the diamond will be worn in, to make sure it still looks good to you.
