Need opinions and advice on a 3.99ct Emerald

I am currently seeking opinions, advice, and comments on a potential purchase. The following is the specifications of the emerald that I am evaluating. One thing that stands out to me is the extremely thin – thick girdle. Should I be concerned? Also this stone was mistakenly cut @ 3.99 ct when the target was supposed to be 4.00+ therefore the price looks appealing. The diamond faces up beautiful and although the color is K it is not noticeable unless you are in the store next to another diamond graded in the F-I range. As usual pictures do it justice and that is why I did not post any.

Color grade: K
Clarity Grade: VS2
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: None
Table: 72%
Depth: 66.9%
Culet: Small
 
We absolutely have to have pictures to tell you anything meaningful. But the one thing I can say is that it's table is huge and I really prefer 62 or lower but maybe up to 65 on a stone that is otherwise great. I would have concerns about the variation in girdle size as I normally would want to see at least very good on symmetry. I'd really have to see magnified pictures of the stone from the top and sides.

We need an up close picture straight down on the table. We're trying to look at the facets to see if they are at good angles
to return light and that no angles are too fat.
 
I think it has a huge flat top and that is just not attractive. You can do SO much better with cut than that.

You won;t see many stones cut to that weight, it's true.
My guess is that the stone was repaired at some point.
What's the date of the GIA report?

I would not be concerned on variations in girdle thickness ad an emerald cut actually has 8 separate girdles- sometimes lovely stones can have variations.

I never judge by numbers- and have seen many lovely Emerald Cuts with slightly larger tables.
If the bottom of the stone is faceted to compensate, a larger table may not cause any noticeable problems.
But if the bottom of the stone is not done correctly, the diamond can look dark in the center.
Your pictures do seem to indicate such darkness- but I echo tyty's request for a straight on shot.

Please advise of a vendor or dealer that I could look into purchasing a diamond of this size without having to give up my first born. Any suggestions is appreciated.
 
You didnt say what your budget was? Maybe try ID Jewelry? GOG would be my first suggestion but you might have to give
up your first born. Doesnt hurt to ask though.

I am trying to stay at or below $30K.
 
Don't like the cut of the EC, which I think might be discounted due to the cut quality. The crown looks low and coupled with the large table, looks leaky in the picture where it is resting atop the black velvet (can see the black velvet through the diamond instead of facets). The JA stone Tyty suggested, however, is a stunner! If you prioritize size under $30K, then this might be the right stone for you. However, if you want sparkle, I would dismiss this EC and keep looking.
 
You can also drop slightly in color if size and price are your drivers. Just choose a great cut. Lower colors are not always recommended here in EC but I have a K IF 2.03 ct and its stunning several other Pricescopers also own EC K's Woofmama is one if you look up her ring also beautiful. .

The experts will be better with the cut on this one but the table is smaller and the crown looks to be better.

Extremely nice pick! Even though it is out of his price range, this is a great example of a beautiful emerald cut diamond!

I think the stone Mayk found is better than the one in the original post, but probably not as good as the I color one. We'd need an ASET image to be sure.

Well cut emerald cuts are not easy to find. Good Old Gold is really good at finding fancy cuts that are well cut. While their specialty cut stones carry a price premium, I do not think stones like this that are called in are going to be much higher. You do pay a little extra for their light performance testing and the videos, etc. But it is worth it, in my opinion. In fact, they can call in most stones seen on JA.
 
So I guess the general concensus is keep shopping?
