I finally received my setting. What do you all think about it with this tourmaline? Does it look like it''s made for each other? Does it look washed out?

The setting is a two tone white/yellow gold, although it''s kind of hard to tell. I do really love the style of the setting, I''m not sure about this stone.

It''s kind of hard to tell from the pics since they''re so small. Is that the setting you ordered from ebay. Again, kind of hard to even tell what the setting looks like since the pics are so small. Can you post closer pictures?

I don''t know how to get the pictures bigger.... I''ll try to take more pictures tomorrow.

This is the picture from the seller.

That''s a pretty setting, are you happy with the quality of it and the diamonds? It''s so hard to tell from the pictures, I''m sorry.

I am very pleased with the setting. I did take it to my jeweler and he was not thrilled. They are a bit high end/snootie bunch and they made a comment such as "you must have had insomnia and was shopping on the net..." "If you want a new ring we can make whatever you want and in better quality, but we will set this one for you if you want. We just will not guarantee our work." BLAA... BLAAAh... BLAAAAHHHH....

I so wanted to tell them that I wasn''t paying them for their comment and wasn''t asking for it either!! Took the setting and the stone back and thanked them.... I probably will not be going back to them again.

Decided though that the peach tourmaline was just not for this setting. Seems too washed out....

I''m just so loving the fact that I''m able to post larger pictures!!

The setting is very pretty - pooh pooh on your snooty jeweler. I'm not sure it does much for the stone though, so perhaps a halo? I'm sure you probably can get another stone to go in that setting. I love the two tone effect of it and the dimensionality.

It looks like the setting is meant for a square stone; the basket is square. A setting for a round stone will have a rounded basket.

The seller said that he would make it for a round setting, but I think you''re right that they did not do that. But I do like the setting alot. It''s a bit different. I''m now in search for the right square cut stone to fit into this setting.....

The peach tourmaline, I was thinking of a tension setting, but I think the tourmaline is too soft for that? I''m not sure. Maybe a halo like you mentioned.

You''re right, I don''t think a tourmaline can handle a true tension setting - maybe something with a support bar underneath to still retain that open tension look?

I really like the setting! Very unique! I think the Peach Tourmaline gets a little lost in that setting. Since it is for a square stone, I would go with richer colored stone. Do you have any in mind? ...or is the search beginning??

Yes, I''m on the prow again... I will be getting a olive colored cushion tourmaline maybe next week. Maybe this one will be the one for this setting. What do you all think?

That may work. I was also thinking of brushed yellow gold setting. Not necessarily this ring, but this texture. What do you think?

I really like the antique look also. Maybe this setting in gold for the peach tourmaline?
