Hello All -

I am new here as I''m sure everyone is when they start. I imagine until you go shopping for diamonds you don''t need to know about diamonds. :)

After months of looking and taking price and beauty into account I purchased a round cut GIA certified diamond.

I purchased a .91 carats, H, SI1, Very good cut diamond for $3625.00. My question is my other option was an 1.05 carat, I, SI2, excellent cut with an inclusion right in the center of the diamond that you could only see through magification. In my opinion they both sparkled the same, the price differnce of the 2 were $300.00. I thought I made the right choise until I started reading more and more and more. It seems that most people say CUT is the most important. They both sparkled the same in all light ex. above and under the desk. I chose the H color as I thought that was more important. Now I''m kicking myself and thinking I should have gone for the 1.05 carat excellent cut?

Did I do the right think?

What are the depth and table %, crown and pavilion angles fot the 2 stones you are considering?

Also, what is the girdle thickness, star and lower facet number?

I''m not sure about that, he told me but I didn''t write it down. All is remember is excellent cut and very good cut? Sorry...

Hi md,

Need the following info please for the diamonds you are interested in

type of lab report and cut grade if applicable
depth %
table%
polish and symmetry grades
crown and pavilion angles
diameter measurement
girdle thickness
fluorescence if applicable
star and lower girdle facet percent if applicable ( but the info above is the main info needed to judge the cut)

If you could post the info I posted above that would help, would give a more complete picture of each diamond otherwise no real way to tell how they are cut. If you have purchased the diamond then the info needed will be on the report, but curious - are you thinking of returning the diamond? Are you happy with it?

So have you bought the stone? If so, the information should be on the gradiing report that comes with the stone.

If not, ask the vendor for the report number and the lab that grades it.

Get all the information off the GIA reports for both stones and post them here. Your jeweler should be able to fax you the report of both stones or at least give you all the info.

It''s a GIA report. I will get the info and post. I have purchased it, well he is setting it now, but there is a 100% no hassle return policy. Just keeping my options open as I''m not sure if I should have gone for size, and less color grade or smaller and better color grade? As I said they both sparkled the same as far as I could tell. I was there for about 30 minutes examining the two.
