I was hoping for an opinion on this stone:

0.65-Carat Princess Cut Diamond
diamond comes accompanied by a diamond grading report from the AGSL.
Price: $1,913.00

Carat weight: 0.65

Cut: Very Good

Color: F

Clarity: SI1

Depth %: 74.4%

Table %: 61%

Symmetry: Good

Polish: Very good

Girdle: Extremely thin to very thick

Culet: None

Fluorescence: None

Measurements: 5.34x4.36x3.24 mm

Length/width ratio: 1.22

I guess I get confused about the depth and the table percentages. I really want the best cut we can get. I was also curious, since I have never seen it before, does the length/width in this sound like it would look very "unsquare", does that make sense? How about compared to a 1.01?

We went shopping last night, and it was actually fun. (wedding day diamonds) Thanks to some research we were able to talk with the person trying to sell us rings and see what they had available. I actually learned that color is more important to me than say a very high clarity. Their prices were high for diamonds, settings in my opinion were not bad though. The ones we saw of course. I would reccomend their service to someone who wants to go and see what they like, but only if you have a little knowledge in diamonds. I am sure we would have bought from them if I just went on how nice she was to us. She tried to sell us a .58, SI1, F, princess for 2395, yikes! She also said this was THE BEST price we would find for this kind of diamond. Thank you pricescope:)
Well anyways, thanks for your help. We are excited to buy our e-ring. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Hi,
I don''t know a whole lot about princess cuts, but thought that the girdle on this stone may be a problem as its on the thin side which isn''t what you want in a princess. Hopefully the experts will answer this more eloquently.

really? am i wrong, but i thought a very thick girdle was bad, because you lose alot of weight there? medium would probably be better?

i was looking at bluenile for diamonds.

hey twincitiesgirl,
glad you had a good time diamond hunting!

as far as this stone is concerned, as kaleigh mentioned, the girdle is something you would want to have checked out. the ''extremely thin'' portion of the girdle may pose a problem in setting, and it may not. you would need a to have someone view it to know for sure.
to answer your question about the ''squarness'' of the stone, yes, this stone will look unsquare with a l/w ratio of 1.22. for a nice, square stone, you want to stay in the 1.0 to 1.1 max. unless you want to have an elongated look, the ratio alone on this stone would be cause for passing it up. best of luck in your endeavor!

Sorry, how about this one, much cheaper, my fiance will like that :)

Not sure on your diamonds... just wanted to suggest you take a look at Continental Diamonds and Charles of Switzerland for price comparisons. They tend to have very competitive pricing. (I''m also from the Twin Cities.) I ended up buying from Whiteflash - much better quality, price, and customer service than what I could get locally.

Princess are a tricky thing.....Getting one with great sparkle and a nice look is a difficult thing....my 2 cents....when I look to purchase princess stones, I try to find tables that are less than the total depth.....i.e. tables of 62% to 68% and Depth from 68% to 74%. This is not a hard rule.....but it is the first step towards finding a nice princess cut....The price on the 1.01 sounds suspicially low. All the best in finding the perfect stone.....
