Need opinion - just bought e-ring

Thanks tyty and the rest of you. My local jeweler is an older gentlemen who is kinda leary of the internet, and rightly so. I just think he was CYAing like you said, as he doesnt wanna get hit years later saying he changed the stone etc. I dont think he was knocking GIA or AGS, he was just worried that the cert wasnt going to be accurate to the diamond that I received from Whiteflash. Which I dont think should happen, right? I think whiteflash has a pretty good rep so I dont think they would try and pass shady stones, course I will have my jeweler look at it. I could tell he was a little taken back when I suggested I probably was going to go internet, but hey its business and money is money.

I was really shocked when I looked at three diamonds, G, H, and I color grades, and though I could notice a slight difference, I couldnt really tell all that easily. Since that 5/8 ct diamond you showed me has such a great cut and specs, I will prob end up with that, less I find a .70 for a good deal. Looks like that .70 diamond is junk so I will move on.

I am going to be insuring the ring and diamond through my home owners policy, will need to ask my jeweler if he covers the diamond while he is working with it.

No, Whiteflash would never on purpose send you a different stone. They are very reputable. I guess with any vendor
there can always be a small, tiny, miniscule chance that someone puts the wrong stone in the mail. (this would be
extremely rare). Really, you have no need to worry.

Just talked to Chris as Whiteflash this morning, he showed me this diamond, wanted to get your guys thoughts. Its about 800 dollars more to jump up to near .75ct so.

FYI. Whiteflash does have a discount for PS members even if they do pay by credit card.

HCA advisor gives it a .7 TIC rating.

I just got off the phone with my jeweler, boy did he get kidna hurt when I mentioned I was going to have him set a stone I was bringing him. I asked if he could allow me to look at the diamond through a microscope to verify the numbers and he was adamant about not doing that. I get not wanting to verify someone elses diamond, but it seems petty to not allow your customer to just few a number on a girdle of a diamond. I dont know maybe it makes sense in the diamond industry, but to me it just seems petty. Anyways hes ordering the setting and should have it within 7-10 days. I am hoping he doesnt have issue with the diamond from whiteflash and refuses to set it, not sure what I would do then.

Whiteflash is a reputable vendor on pricescope. You shouldn''t have any problems with their diamond. As for verifying the inscription and the appearance of the diamond that a customer brings in-I thought-is a standard practice. They don''t want to be liable for what they didn''t do. I visited a couple B&M prior to buying the stone online, all owners told me that they will go through the same steps; verifying the number and any chips on the stone before and after they set the stone.

Yeah I just dont want to be in a situation where I have a diamond, a ring, but not an e-ring, so to speak. I really dont wanna have trouble getting this set.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I think the search is over. I wrote my jeweler a long email telling him my feelings and thoughts on the situation, and how 300 bucks is a lot of money, and thats its hard to justify going through him rather than whiteflash. He came back with literally a bottom end price, about 20 bucks higher than whiteflash. I have looked at this diamond personally and it really is just as good as the whiteflash one, if not not better. Not to mention its one place for setting and stone, not ???? left in the equation; so I ended up staying with him. WHEH! Long road and very stressful but I am happy that I got it for a great price and locally.

Ending price: Setting and .61 CT H-SI1 GIA cert including sales tax: $2225. Which comes with ultrasonic cleaning machine, all the documentation, appraisal for insurance, and guarantee on all the work.

White flash, was 1350 + 900 for the setting. And that was it.

Congrats on your purchase and I am happy that you found something you are happy with.

Not all people are comfortable with using an Internet vendor but it is a great option for many people. I myself was not able to find anything that came close to what the PS vendors could offer in terms of quality. I never had a problem setting my stones locally - it took me a while to find a jeweler that can make the prongs the way I like but I found it in the end.

I am glad you feel that your stone is just as nice as the WF one - did you provide the specs to PS so they can verify that it is a well cut stone. I am sure you have heard - what looks great in the store may not look great in other settings. I personally wouldn't put much on the "extras" you getting. An ultrasonic cleaner is not that expensive - you can get them for as cheap as $20 on ebay. You would have received the GIA documentation from WF. Your jeweler should have guarantee their setting work even though if it isn't their stone. I wouldn't even use an in-store appraisal for insurance purposes - they are generally extremely inflated. I didn't see you compare the upgrade policies between the two stores - I am not familiar with WF but I know the PS vendors (especially GOG) has excellent upgrade policies for down the road.

I don't mean to be negative at all but wanted to put some considerations out there.

Hey guys. I dont have the specs because when I met with my jeweler he was higher than the internet, so right away I just planned to go over the web. He did go over the TIC ideal numbers and those were where they needed to be. I took a close look at 40x and the diamonds looked great. Its amazing what a difference there was between his and some of the mall chains.

He has just a small shop in a highrise, lighting was very natural, not what you would find in a mall, and the diamonds appeared to be cut well, as they sparkled beautifully.

I will post the numbers once I get them from him. I was just surprised to see him go under the internet pricing including tax. You would think that the diamond was below grade but it wasnt, I am assuming he just took a hit on it since he is friends with my soon to be finances mother.

It''s certainly a plus to have a single vendor sell and set the stone, and the fact that he''s close by simplifies your life quite a bit - all those cleanings and polishings sure become a lot less stressful when you have a trusted local jeweller

So just picked up the ring, looks absolutley amazing. It is just worlds different from what I saw in mall shops, even the side stones have more sparkle! Here are the specs of the diamond. I hope to post pictures soon.

The result is for a symmetrical diamond with a medium girdle and very good polish
