Joey, the diamond looks pretty ugly to me with those huge inclusions. Plus, it looks like it''s been on the market for a long long time and nobody wants to buy it so you can draw your own conclusions about it. I''d recommend going a little smaller and getting something nicer or increasing your budget for a nicer stone.

Or perhaps you can sacrifice a little color for clarity- like an H SI1 or even I VS2... I agree it looks rather dirty for an SI2 even...

AGS is on par with GIA on color and clarity grading, better in cut grading of round.

With regards to the inclusions, check with JA, do not go by what you can see on the inclusion plot and loupe image as these will make it easier to find inclusions. The most significant inclusions of this stone is twinning wisp, which can be relatively eye clean.

Thanks guys, I guess it''s no go for me. Is there any stones you guys recommentsd that is a good deal for a $10000 budget. I prefer to have something with the size of between 1.5- 2 carrats.

Thanks again

Hi Joey

The diamond above although you can''t tell much by the photos as SC says, I suspect it isn''t eyeclean, you would need to ask the vendor to inspect it carefully for you and also to get an Idealscope image if it was clean to the eye.

If you lower the color, it can get you more size. In a well cut stone, the lower colors aren''t going to look "yellow", it''s like the difference between white (say a G) and winter white (I-J). I''ll give you the link to a thread full of J''s in a sec. Here''s some stones I found. Of course all need to be checked for eyecleanliness, and need an IS pic.

This one has strong fluorescence, not sure if that''s a problem for you. Need to ask if it''s having a negative affect on the diamond. (rare) But it gets you to the 2 ct mark. (other discounts may apply)

Thanks again for all your help.

Ellen, I like that thread about the J color. It seems when you have a 2 carrat, I-J with very good-ideal cut, you don''t see much the yellow color. I''m willing to selltle for that. Is there a particular stone with those specs that you guys would recommend?

Thanks

Amazing what a great cut can do, isn't ?

I can recommend my favorites, but it depends on what you want. If you want a very decent cut, with as much size as possible, I'd ask for an IS on the first 3 I listed from JA, with the first as my first choice. That second ones pic is iffy, but it could just be the pic. Unfortunately JA does not take the greates pics...

If you wanted to go with a smaller size and really good cut, here's a couple. On this first, bankwire is the discount, so just a hair over budget, gorgeous.

Not sure if this one one will be eyeclean, but don't go by the plot/pics, they aren't representitive of real life! They must be looked at in person (you would call and have them look at it). This would get a 5% PS discount off listed price.
