Alright! Well, I was trying to choose between 3 different settings. And I finally decided on a classic baguette setting with a princess cut center.
My inspiration was Snooper's ring! You can view her absolutely beautiful ring here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/snoopers-leon-mege.45761/
Anyhow, I love the proportions of the baguettes to the princess. According to her thread, it's a 3.10 ct stone with two .78 ctw baguettes. It's just that most of the generic baguette settings I see in stores and online are really, really small compared to the diamond. My jeweler said it should be that way so that it doesn't take focus away from the center. But I think the larger baguettes really complement the center stone, as I saw in a lot of Leon Mege's settings. I was really struggling to figure out why his baguette settings looked so much more different than other baguette settings. I figured it must have something to do with the size of the baguettes, the angle at which they are set, and where they sit next to the center stone.
My stone will be just a *tiny* bit smaller than Snooper's: .72~.75 ct.
Anyhow, what size tapered baguettes should I ask for in order to make it look proportionally similar to a Leon Mege 3-stone? Should I just mathematically calculate it out or do I have to take other things into consideration?
Mathematically, I should go for about a .2 ctw. Would that be okay? Or is the fact that my diamond is so much smaller that my setting can never look like that?
As always, I appreciate all the help and information I've received from PriceScope in the past few weeks.
*Edit - I think I got it wrong. Instead of ct of my princess, I should be looking at the length or width. If that's the case, to get that same look with the same proportions, I think my baguettes have to around...I don't know. So difficult.
