Okay, I have this very specific design in mind and I can''t find anything that fits it. I have a 1 carat rb that faces like a .75...it''s a very deep diamond...I want a low 4 prong setting because I''m in the medical field, but also one that maximizes the size of the diamond (I don''t want space between the bottom of the diamond and the setting like in the crown of a Tiffany). But here is where it gets complicated...I also want a surprise diamond on each side of the head and the diamond set in a round channel band that goes almost halfway around (probably four 4 pointers?)...I don''t want cathedral/tapered setting...I want the band to be round and fluid, and a matching channel set wedding band.

Can I have all this or do I need to sacrifice somewhere?

Here are some inspirations that all have some aspect of what I''m looking for

This is kind of how I want the edge where the end of the channel set diamonds and the beginning of the polish band to be, but not as big and just a single verticla bar.

Surprise diamond each side.

I''m not sure if you can do surprise diamonds with that because it has to go in the side somewhere near the culet and the bottom of the setting. You could still do it by making it stick out the sides, but then it''ll look Frankenstien-ish which does not go with the fluid look you want.

Kind of like this but where would the surprise diamond go (and I''d want it in 4 prongs)? I feel like you''d see the space between the end of the diamond and the bottom of the setting though..

Chrono, would I have to have have a cathedral setting then? What would best maximize a deep diamond with a narrow table?

That space isn''t deep enough for a surprise diamond on each side AND the metal needed to support and protect it. You definitely can''t do the surprise diamond with prongs unless I''m misunderstanding you.

To make a less well cut stone sparkle more, the setting will need to be more open to let light in, bounce around and get reflected back. U shaped prongs with open sides will help the stone pop. The stone can still be low set with this type of design but I'm afraid you might have to forgo the surprise diamonds.

hmmm...so is it possible to get a surprise diamond in the same setting that has channel set stones if I don''t want a cathedral? Are there any other settings that work?

If you want a channel setting AND surpise diamonds, my guess is that you need a cathedral setting.

It'll be like the ring below (higher set to fit the surprise diamonds in the sides) and it shouldn't be a problem to get the channel instead of the pave.
