Our newest foster cat is in the process of having her kittens now. We''ve been through another birth, and fostered a mother with 2 day old kittens before, but I''ve not experienced this problem before. The cat doesn''t have enough nipples. She has one, to be exact. Maybe 2, but I''m not certain about the functionality of that one. The others are there, sorta -- they''re completely flat. It''s obvious her milk has come into those mammaries, but there''s simply no nub for the babies to suckle from.
Has anyone seen this before? Will they eventually "pop out" (crude, I know)? Or am I really going to have to handfeed these kittens every 2 hours for the next week, every 3 hours for the week after that, and every 4 hours for the week after that? That equals a whole lot of time off work...
TIA for any info, as I just can''t seem to get the wording correct in order to get any hits on Google.
